Hello,

I've only posted here once. Kind of on my own following the go slow protocol since I work an intense summer job and can't commit to TR right now. I would appreciate it if anyone can look at my numbers and see the dilemma I am currently facing. He is getting all blue numbers and I don't have the data to support safely shooting these numbers. I'm not home during the day to monitor and pass out for the night 2 hrs after the pm shot. Start low says not to shoot those numbers so I have been skipping a bunch of shots but he is still in the blue. What do you think about this? My vet says these can be normal numbers for a cat but I see you guys aiming for 50-80. Are remission numbers different for Start Slow compared to TR?

Thanks!

regulation numbers are keeping kitty under 200 all the time..... and that is what most vets target with their clients. Vets are not used to people who are that committed to monitoring and doing so much for they animals..... most of their clients give up as soon as things get hard. This is part of their training and why they have to think that way to be able to euthanize even if they don't agree with it.

If you want to target remission, you can still do so with the start slow protocol , there are lots of factors that come together for remission...
TR is just the best one and the more aggressive one but we've had plenty who make it there on the slow method.

You seem to be willing to shoot the 0.25 u when the numbers are just on the fringe so why not try making that a consistent amount and let's see how it goes.
It helps if you can post daily so all of us can monitor progress and advise if you need to go back to the half unit..... but since there is no green on your chart, I would go with the 0.25 units no matter what the number is unless it goes under 50....

you have to get out of the mindset of reacting to the preshot number.... and not shooting.....

Will this job end when summer ends and you might have a better schedule?

Keep your testing supplies with you when you go to bed, try drinking a glass of water when you get home, so if you do pass out early, you might have to get up for the bathroom and you can learn to sleep test and grab that test as you get back in bed or even in the bathroom....
It will become more routine if you'll make the committment to grab a test whenever you are around, in the door, right as you are about to go out of the door, etc.... etc....
the more data you have, the better you know how he is doing.... and the better we can help....
