I've been writing on the Facebook FDMB board about what was going on this week with CC, but haven't really said anything here... but I know many of you don't look there that are here, so I thought I'd update on the crazy happenings here this week.
So this week has been an adventure to say the least. My cat CC up until this week has been very predictable. Then Monday night three hours after her shot I got a shock to test her and see she was in a pretty low hypo (no symptoms at all). 44 on an alphatrack. I threw honey in her face, and put her in a carrier and headed off for the emergency vet, which fortunately is only a half mile down the road. They gave her dextrose and put her on a dextrose drip for a few hours and kept her overnight. (they also did a blood panel, which, other then "sllight" dehydration, looked good with everything else. I can post the bloodwork later if anyone is interested.) Took her home the next morning. No shots the next day, she was low on her own, under 100 the following evening.
Vet told me do about half ner usual dose. I did LESS then half what I would usually give her wed morning... my son and I were getting ready for work/school... coats on, about to leave the house. I decided to test her again 2 hours after the shot not expecting to see much difference and BOOM! 44 again. Again NO symptoms (she's looking at me like I'm a crazy person freaking out). Change of plans, back to the ER which was fortunately still open for another half hour because my regular vet wasn't open yet. Another shot of dextrose, then I took her to my reg vet afterwards for monitoring. I haven't given her a shot since then... I was afraid to while no one was home with her being hyper reactive to it... and since then she's stayed between 121-205 on her own. If she goes over 180-200 this weekend while I'm home (thankfully it's a 3 day weekend with Martin Luther King day) I'll shoot just a tiny .25 This morning she was a decent 155.... but has been seeming to lower down by evening herself so I'll be curious to see what it is tonight. It's really interesting. and nerve wracking. Up until now she's been so predictable. Just goes to prove again how important it is to test!! And listen to your inner voice... I wasn't going to bother testing at the +2 on wed cuz I didn't think there'd be much change, but I'm glad I listened to my gut and did. The older I get the more I've learned to trust that inner gut feeling.
Last year when she went into remission it was a nice gentle tapering down and I just gradually lowered the dose until she was off it. this time she's crashing like a brick. lol crazy
So wish us luck that her numbers come down on her own.... or that she doesn't sink like crazy if we do need to dose her! lol

, pushed some cats into remission. Something to do with changed insulin sensitivity... I hope that's the case for CC and she is back into the Falls in no time!
