Hi everyone!!

Haven't spoken to you guys in ages, hope all the kitties are doing good :)

Last night Sid had a seizure. Occurred 4 hours post insulin injection.
He's been doing super since November on 4 units twice daily Caninsulin.

Today again 4 hours post insulin he's looking weak , can barely stand so I've fed him a meal and he's sitting under the bed now.

I've ordered in a new alphatrak should be coming Friday! So can do a curve as it's been a long time since one of those.

Thinking of cutting his insulin dose in half ?

Hi, Sophie and Sid! What were his BG numbers like when he had the seizure? That must have been terrifying! Are you able to test him now to see what his BG level is currently? It does sound like maybe he needs a dose reduction but, without seeing his numbers, it's hard to say for sure.

He hasn't had a BG check since the beginning of the year, I've been basing it purely on how well he has been doing as he is such a difficult cat to handle.

Very easily stressed!

So alpha trak is coming middle of this week coming, so I can get a full BG curve done and start monitoring him closely from now on.

When I got him he was 3.4kg (skin and bone) he's now 5.5kg

He has had another wobble today approx 4 hours after his insulin and food he was so flat I could roll him over and he didn't have the energy to fight back so I've fed him.

Hello Sophie and Sid! (Good name I have a Sid too. Only he's a horse! ;))

I'm so sorry to hear he had a siezure. Not sure what you mean by not had a bg test since the beginning of the year, do you mean a curve?

Based on the symptoms you are describing it sounds as though Sid has had a severe hypo, what was his pre shot bg at? Did you get any tests between the shot and the seizure?

Hope he's doing better now. :)

These episodes sound very much like symptomatic hypoglycemia. Time to get that testing challenge conquered.

If you are unable to test, I would lower the dose until you know what his BG levels are. It does sound like he's having hypo episodes, which can be deadly. Hope the AlphaTrak comes soon so you can start testing!

ETA: I love Sid's markings. He'a adorable!
