I've been at this for a few months now and I am trying to figure out feeding times for Allie.
She gets her shot at 8am and 8pm
Somedays I'm able to be home somedays I'm not.

Today I'm home, she ate before her AMPS a whole can of FF pate then about 10am she wanted a snack like most days.
She also comes back around noon 2pm - 4pm this is where I can't always be home.

She always wants a snack @ 6 but I pushed that back to 5:30 because of the 2 hour window, we keep it at half a can. Do I ignore her and only feed every 4-6 hours or do I feed her when she wants when I am home?
Feel like during the day the insulin is chasing the all the food she consumes and then at night she goes for 8 hours without eating.

It’s good for a diabetic cat to eat smaller meals or treats throughout the day. I think it’s fine to feed her when she wants when you’re at home but do withhold the food for at least 2 hours prior to the preshot tests. Those are the only times we need to withhold food. Have you considered an auto-feeder? A lot of members here use them for when they’re away or even overnight. You can put treats in there or even wet food. I hear some have a compartment where you can put ice to keep the wet food fresher.

Cute cats you have there. My 2 never get that close.
Thanks and check that off that list..automatic feeder. Just worry on insulin chasing the food. Off to go shopping for feeders. See who gives me the best deal! It will help keep my mind at ease. Hope she doesn't scarf and barf...
She really pushes that 2 hour window before her PMPS.
Before becoming diabetic both of my cats ate at 8am, 4pm and 10pm. Could have set a clock by them LOL
They had dry to graze but those days are over.

They def were more bonded when they were younger. They were less than a year in that pic. As they got older they hang out together, like in the same room, but didn’t cuddle up anymore. Minnie passed last year and now that’s it’s just Bobo and me, he’s become a Velcro kitty lol

I’m having the same issue with Bobo. He was used to eating dinner around 4-5pm and that’s now too close to +10 so I’m giving him a snack at 3pm and it seems to be holding him up until 7pm for the pmps

I'm sorry didn't know Ale passed. The one thing about having furbabies that I dread.
Allie and Cassie are that way like right now they are within a foot of each other on the back porch, the only time they are close..Go figure.

Slowly walking back that feeding time before her PMPS like it to be at least 3 hours before her main 2nd meal of the day is 8pm before her shot. Glad you got Bobo on schedule. They do like routine.

@Diane Tyler's Mom you have an auto feeder don’t you?

Shopping right now. The one feeder a lot of people seem to use looks small for them to get their faces in. Whisker fatigue?

Thanks so much for the info. I looked at that model but I went with another style. I'll have to see if I can make my own ice packs. I have a stout, chubby faced Cassie cat and I'm not sure her face would fit, whisker fatigue? Nice thing is I can always return for free.
