My vet is starting my cat, Kitty, on Adequan next week. This will be the first cat she has ever treated with Adequan. Due to the information I have read here about the benefits of the drug, I asked her to research it and see if she was comfortable with using it for Kitty's arthritis. Since this is her first time using it on a cat, I want to be sure the dosing is appropriate.

Kitty is 9.8 lbs and 15.9 years old. She is very arthritic in her legs. I have read there are loading doses etc. Can you please tell me the "normal" dosing of Adequan?

Thanks in advance!

Just going by what has been dosed for my cat, Gandalf at 14 lbs gets .26cc. At almost 1/3rd less in weight, probably .15cc for Kitty would be approximate. I believe it is a per kilogram dose, but I'm not sure what that amount per kg is. Mathematically it looks like it's .04cc per kg. The dose during the loading period is the same, but how often it's given is what's important to load properly. Your vet should already have that info.

What would be the correct dose for my cat who is 13lbs?
using Adequan 500mg/5ml.
I am getting the canine adequan.

I have been giving the equine adequan .3ml from a 1000mg/10ml vial.
It is stinging when i give it.
thanks
