Looking for other's experiences with Adequan...

vet gave me some to try on my cat for arthritis... She seems to have tender elbows and limps a little... She thinks we'll give it once a week for 3 weeks and then switch to once
a month. Someone said there cat needed it a little more often than that.

Carly has been helped a lot by it but we had to go to once a week. She does have severe arthritis and is not doing well right now. She is on Gabapentin, Tramadol, Dasuquin, and Adequan for the arthritis.

Simon tried Cartrophen (used in Canada) 4 weekly injections, then we were supposed to go once a month.. no real improvement.
Instead we switched to Adequan. He gets 2 shots per week for a month, then 1 shot a week for a month, then a shot every 2 weeks
for 6 weeks, then monthly... I'm about to give his 3rd shot.... maybe he's a bit less "creaky" ;-) but early days....

Ennis thrived on Adequan for his arthritis the last couple years of his life. I highly recommend it. It's usually less expensive on line than through the vet.

We had a ramping up period, then Ennis got it PRN (as needed) whenever I saw him stiffening up. Usually about every 3 weeks. The good thing was that he would get immediate relief from the PRN shots; within an hour or two he would be visibly less stiff and more comfortable.

Good luck!
