Last month I learned that Peaches has kidney disease (to go with her diabetes) and changed her diet to Hills k/d and Purina ProPlan NF. We knew her BG values would rise and that the transition from low carb to low protein needed to be gradual (full transition on9/6/21). In my signature block, you can see from her spreadsheet that her BG numbers are not close to being controlled, even with a slow and gradual increase of insulin.
She has a follow up visit with her vet at the end of October. She has pretty good quality of life, for an old kitty. She drinks a little too much and pees too much. But her weight has definitely climbed since changing her food and she seems less frail.
Should I just keep doing what I'm doing? You can see that despite the consistently high sugars, she still manages to occasionally have a much lower than usual test at shot time to keep me on my toes. I welcome thoughts of those who've been down this road and know what I can reasonably expect. Thank you.
