Accuracy

I'm new to Lantus. I just started on 1 unit today . I crossed over from Prozinc, which I've used for over a year.

My question is how accurate of a timing do I have to have? I'm USUALLY right on, however I've had to dose up to an hour before or late before on Prozinc.

I know giving him his insulin that early or late will factor in as an increase or decrease.

Will 15 minutes early or late factor in a lot? Curious if I have any headway.

Fifteen minutes early or late each cycle or 30 minutes every 24 hours shouldn’t have any effect. I’d try to stick as close as possible to that at first until you know how he responds. Welcome!

A lot depends on your cat. My rule of thumb has been you've got a window of up to 30 minutes to give a shot. Just be aware that if your kitty is sensitive to the effects of time, an early shot acts like a dose increase and a late shot acts like a dose reduction.
