Lucian's ear is bothering him. The slightest touch to his left ear and he starts to go at it with his hind foot. I can see nothing. I am very careful when testing, have used neosporin since the beginning. There is no redness, nothing that says there's a problem. Although it looks a little dirty, but nothing any different from the other ear or other cats. He has only been out of my apt once in over 4 years and that was to the vet last January. Could he have gotten ear mites and would it take this long to show up? Even with cats that go outside, I've never seen them act like this WITH ear mites. All mine have been treated over the years because they went outside in the country. But not in the last 4+ years. I haven't tested his left ear at all today, because when I picked him up for his second test, I brushed against his ear and he shredded my arm and fingers trying to get to it.

WTH is up with this? Anyone have any idea?

Every time I have been told it was ear mites, it turned out to be an infection instead. I have an old civvie girl who we had to stop treating because it was so stressful to her and the other cats because of the screaming to try to clean them out and put drops in and then the infection would just come back. I would love to test her bg but I don't dare even try. It's all I can do to pull the dangling poo off her butt without her turning for me

IMO - My experience is that ear mites itch and an infection hurts.

I don't know if it itches or hurts, I asked, he's ignoring me!

But if it keeps up, he'll be back on the antibiotics that he DIDN'T need a couple weeks ago........or did he? Hmmm wonder if an infection has been coming on? NO! As long as he's warm he's fine.

Doesn't mean it isn't an infection now, just started today. It's so confusing! If he could only tell me what's wrong.
