I'm still trying to figure out what canned cat food to give my newly diagnosed kitty, B.D.
Initially, the Vet had me only feeding him 2X's a day, followed by his 1 unit shot.
Because of this Forum, I've saved B.D. AND me, by allowing him to eat what this Forum told me.
I've save lots of money (I'm not working due to Covid) but, I'm still a bit clueless, as I haven't started "testing" just yet - I, myself, have been under the weather.
Can someone inform me exactly, of what I need to look for in canned cat food?
I have some already here at home - but, I'm not sure if it's the calories... or the fat... or the protein amount I should be careful of.
Like I said, I'm learning, and right now not feeling so well, myself.
Thanks so much. You've all been wonderfully informative.
I would like to know the percentages I should look for..of protein/fat/etc - if the cans I already have here at home are ok.. Watching my $$$ thanks.

Hi Cee, you want food that is under 10% carbs. Check our Dr. Lisa Pearson’s list of cat food that is a sticky on the forum. It is about 60 pages of most food on the market. The other rule of thumb is to feed about 20 calories per pound of body weight. But if BD needs to put o on weight, then feed more. It is also better on the pancreas to feed more than 2 times/day. I feed Howie 3 mini meals (with an auto feeder when I’m not home) during each 12 hour cycle.
