A1C for cats?

Hi everyone, Buck is doing great with no signs of problems. I was wondering if the vet can do an A1C on a cat! Buck simply does not let me test him although I do have plenty of strips for the extra meter. He is still on Humulin N 2u 3x day.
Thanks
Ed

There is no A1C for pets, but there is a fructosamine test that works in much the same way (averages blood sugar over a 2-week period). As the fructosamine number they give you can be misleading, you'll want a copy of the full report since it will give you a "conversion" of what that number really means. (i.e. on some tests, 190-365 is considered "non-diabetic range.")

Sounds like you may find the Secondary Monitoring Tools in my signature link helpful.

Check as many of them as you can on a regular basis.
