Some person posted: (and note alot of posts are crazy)
They donated A bag of cat food for "homeless cats" and saw the animal control officer going to a "welfare apt to give it to them" NOT knowing behind said apartment is a colony of feral cats and this person most likely feeds them.
Well I read this a few times, and am not a spouter or joiner of conversation in a local spout off column; I actually relplied and it hopefully should be in next weeks spout off: To the person that donated A bag of cat food to the township for "homeless cats" not feral ?, I advised her of the colony that lives behind the apartment she is speaking of, reguardless if the person is on "welfare or not" they are feeding the bag of donated food to the "homeless cats" and if it bothered her so much to give it to the shelter the next time.

Am I being too sensitive? Maybe pms LOL

Well... if it were me, my big issue would be with the "welfare" comment - as if all people on welfare are deadbeats. Yes, the system needs changes, but people that judge someone based on that need to walk a mile in their shoes.

Also, I find it surprising that someone donates food to "homeless" cats. Maybe they meant shelter cats, cats up for adoption, and not feral cats, but didn't have a clue about either shelters or feral colonies. And, um, they would give food to cats, but not want people getting welfare? Besides. there are food drives this time of year and, actually, cat food (and dog food) would be welcomed because that food all goes to people that can't afford people food and they sure can't afford pet food either.

I agree Sheila.
Just can't figure people out. I actually called a woman that I know in the feral cat feeding community. She was fuming over the post too. And the welfare comment. It is just wrong to judge people.

Oh boy, yeah, lots of "judging" going on without the commenter knowing any facts.

Our local pet food pantry has been on the news about the need having gone up this year. People are having a hard time this winter. And so are the animals which depend on them, whether they are pets or homeless or feral or what. The fact that someone finds it in their heart to feed homeless/feral animals means they are a kind person, that should be the criteria on which they are judged, if any judging is to be done.

I cringe when I see requests for pet food or stories on the news about our local shelters needing food because it's always requests for dry food. And the people who need that food are the ones who least need the vet bill for a pet who becomes diabetic or has urinary problems or kidney problems, and are also the ones most likely to euthanize the pet because they can't afford to treat it for those things.

But dry food is better than none, it's not a perfect world, but at least people are trying to help.

Oh, I had to reread your comment - so the commenter donated food for homeless cats and was upset because the food was seen taken to an apartment where people on welfare supposedly live? But there's a feral community of cats there? Hence the food went to homeless cats? I get it, someone who doesn't know much about the community then or doesn't understand that feral cats are everywhere, pretty much.
