On July 9, 2004, Muffin was born with her two brothers Kibby and Shnookie in the bedroom closet. When they were first becoming mobile, I set up a nice box in a quiet corner under the stairs and began moving them down there. Their mom Sam was hot on my heels and as soon as I would put one in the box, she would snatch it out and take it back to the closet. :lol:

When they were old enough, they all became indoor/outdoor cats. We moved to a house in Antelope, and while Sam and Muffin still went outside, they tended to stay in the backyard. In June of 2007 I bought this house, and it was then that Muffin decided she'd had enough of the outdoor life. She chose to be an indoor cat, only venturing out for grass in the early morning or late night, when the neighborhood was quiet. Occasionally she'd go out mid-afternoon for a roll in the sun.

I had to accompany her, and the door had to stay open or she'd get scared. When my DD was pregnant with her first child, Muffin slept with her every night. She just loved to cuddle up with unborn Alette! :lol:

In June of 2010 at the age of 6, Muffin was diagnosed with diabetes. She became such a good patient. She would hear me getting the testing supplies ready and come to the test spot every time. It was during this time that our bond grew so much deeper, as I'm sure you all have experienced with your own kitties. She was the reason I dove into research about feline health. She taught me about patience, the importance of "knowing thy cat" and in turn deepened my bond with all my furkids.

But she was special. She became my shadow, my constant companion. No matter where I was or what I was doing, she was always close by. I moved her food dish up to my desk so I could make sure she was eating properly. She always seemed to eat better with me sitting right there, so I would get on the computer during her breffis. Muffin's always been a grazer, and we fell into a routine of her eating and then sitting on my lap. She would go back and forth from my lap to the fuds bowl until breffis was gone.

Many of you know her little quirks when it came to feeding time. She would knock things over on my desk - the clock, computer speakers, water bottles. If that didn't work, she would knock things OFF the desk - the calender, even her own food bowl. I can't tell you how many cat dishes she broke! :lol:

Thank you, Muffin, for letting me be a part of your life, for your unconditional love, for your acceptance of my unconditional love. You will always be my beautiful sweet most precious Angel. Until we meet again.

(((Anne)))

Thank you for sharing Muffin's story and photo's. Having lost my 2 heart kitties in the last 14 months I know how hard it is to write these tributes. This was very touching and I'm sure...VERY sure that Muffin would be very proud that you honored her this way.

What you keep alive in your heart is never really gone.

Hugs to you~

Awww, I love the Muffin stories. I didn't know about her snuggling with your DD and her unborn baby. That is so sweet! I do remember how Muffin would knock things off your desk for attention. It was as if she was conducting an experiment to see; 1) what would would happen to the object and 2) what would mommy do.

Your deep love for her was evident in every word you wrote. Sam and her kittens were some of the luckiest kitties in the world to have found such a wonderful home. My heart is with you, I know you miss her terribly. ((((((((Anne))))))))

{{{{{Big Hug}}}}} Such a moving tribute to Muffin. It's so heartbreaking to read of the loss of one of our extended family members here on LL. We all share in your loss. Sending prayers of comfort.

{{{Anne}}}

Hugs to you from your neighbor to the west (I live in Suisun City). I am so sorry for your loss. Reading your wonderful tribute to Muffin made me cry, but I could tell how much she meant to you and how she is still with you even now, sitting by your computer. Just remember, the next time something falls off your desk, it's Muffin saying hello.

I'll keep you in my prayers.
