Today could be interesting. Its his first 500 in 9 days.
I decided to go with .5u today.
Last night was interesting as if you look at the chart from +13 forward the numbers were almost exactly 100 points off for the same time period the previous day.

Oh dam Kitty just threw up his food.
Should I feed him again?
Hopefully the antibiotic absorbed. Didnt see a pill.

I gave Kitty more food.
Its early enough and with the .5u working not sure how low he would go without anything in his stomach.

I suspect it was the antibiotic that made him sick.

I would give him a couple small snacks to make sure he has food on board, Sev. You can contact the vet re a different antibiotic. A post on health will likely give you some options. The antibiotic is because of the dental?

The amps is logical after the skipped shot last night, but who knows what the day will bring. He is always full of surprises.

Kitty has had a tender stomach for ever. First time he has gotten sick since the antibiotic started.
Yup its for the dental and gingivitis.
It could also be the pro-biotic or simply a combination of things.

Yup, not looking so great but.......tomorrow is another day. He just needs to settle back down from dental and I mentioned he may bounce around some if his pancreas is trying. He can go up, then down, then high again. Time will tell but until you just have to go with the flow.

Not worried.
He is still on the antibiotics and Probiotics. I really dont expect anything consistent till after that.

By the way I have 2 bottles of Prozinc coming for free!! :-D :-D :-D

Aw, that's sad.

Yah. I had a nice conversation with her.
She and her friends do work with feral cat colonies.
She has another diabetic cat on a different insulin. I gave her the links to this site, Binkys and Dr Peirsons sites.

Hi Sev....I am not sure I have ever introduced myself. I am Kim and my cat is also Kitty! We have been fighting and managing FD for almost a year now. I am by no means an expert on FD, but my Kitty is very complex and we unfortunately have experience in many of the complications and battles that accompany FD.

Just curious, and you might have posted it somewhere, but I didn't see it...what Antibiotic is Kitty taking? My Kitty was on abs after her dental and we fought nasuea and diarrhea, we changed three times before finding one Kitty could tolerate. I also found that yogurt with pribiotics helped alleviate the symptoms. So once again, what ab is your Kitty taking?

Hoping Kitty has a better cycle tonight.

Pleased to meet you Kim.

Kitty is on Clindamycin. It is only the first time he got sick since he started the cycle. Could have been a fluke. I also changed his from .3u yesterday to .5u this morning. I have several factors in the mix that could have caused it.

Sue warned me about wild number swings.
He is at +8 and still dropping. It will be interesting to see how long he goes tonight. Last night I fed him and he dropped over 100 points with only a .3u shot in the morning.
Hoping his pancreas is flexing its muscles.

Clindamycin was also the antibiotic that Kitty was on and the culprit to her diarrhea and vomiting. I am betting that is also what is causing your Kitty's symptoms. Clindamycin is the antibiotic of choice for dental procedures, but it is known to be very hard on the digestive symstem. Sometimes Flagyl is giving along with Clindamycin to help alleviate the digestive issues. Also, it is not uncommon for it to take a few days of having the Clindamycin in the system, before the diarrhea etc. start. I think with my Kitty it was about day 3 when she started experiencing problems. Hopefully the symptoms will not continue in Kitty...but, I would be prepared, as it is a likely side effect of the drug.

Amoxicillin is a secondary antibiotic that is given and is much easier on the digestive tract. No, amoxicillin is not as effective as Clindamycin, but it is a good antibiotic.

My Kitty actually had an abcessed tooth and the infection had gone to the bone and she had a bone graft--we stayed with the Clinamycin as long as possible and then switched to Amoxicillin and she did fine.

Like Sue indicated, it is not unusual to see wild bg swings when infections and anitbiotics are involved. I am interested to see what Kitty's pmps will be.

Good Luck! Hopefully his pancreas is waking up!

Looks like Kitty has 10 days left on the Clindamycin.
