Could someone look at Chocolate's SS. I know I don't have many numbers in between but I always have a +6 or +7 and her numbers, like Coconuts did, seem to go drop so much and then go back up so high. It seems like such a drop. She's been completely off dry for over a week and she gets 1/2 a 5.5 oz can 4x a day.She gets either Wellness Turkey, Chicken, Beef & Chick, or Merrick Cowboy Cookout or Surf N Turf.

Answered over in health...I hope the pzi peeps will be in agreement with this after taking note of chocolates long term stay on H at 5 units bid with no testing. No dose hoping yet please.

Christina,
I only see a couple drops that I would call huge. That was the PM on the 26th and the AM on the 28th. Percentage wise, the other days are about 50% or less. Unless and until you see a big increase in the PS readings (like upper 400s), I'd leave the dose alone and see if her liver calms down. 2 years of the harsh insulin, like Lori said, probably trained her liver really well to react to low numbers. If that goes away, you could see a drop in Chocolate's PSs, and be able to reduce dosage.
She's got to learn to "love the blues". Then she'll get introduced to the greens, but gently!

Carl

First things first, yay for a nice PMPS today!

Just wanted to say hello. I'm sure you're already figuring out that you've come to the best place for help with your diabetic cat. This forum and following the great advice/protocol really helped me turn my cat Max's health around.

Hi Christina and welcome!

I am a little nervous on todays numbers on one unit
I would not increase and I agree with Carl, maybe hold for awhile so Chocolate can get used to the insulin,
or I might even suggest lowering due to the possible hypo this moring.
He went very low and once that happens they are more sensitive to the insulin and a possible hypo
situation could happen more easily...

there are so many experienced people here who I am sure will be on a little later to offer more advice

Hi and Welcome Christina and Chocolate!

I havn't read your post in Health yet but I will, looking at your ss it looks like 1 unit on a PS in the 300's is too much insulin now.

I would pull the dose back to .8u or .6u until he evens out some.

You are making great progress, his PS's have come down the last two days, so yay!
