A little confused with timing of dosing

to all,

Good morning, someone asked me if I am following TR or SLSL. Honestly= not sure which one I am following. And upon reading, I don’t see much difference.
I like the TR but really needs close supervision. I am off since Monday through Wednesday, so I was able to watch MM closely for these past days and was able to increase her to 1.25 since 6 cycles had passed and she was high ( I guess due to my mistakes of empty syringe and giving her the freeze dried raw meat). So, yesterday= I watched her closely- but now having a problem, confused If I have to shoot her or not. I waited couple of hours, but the time kept moving at a later time, and I am going back to work on Thursday, and I don’t know how can I manage the time.
Sorry to bother you- what is the best thing for me to do? I appreciate any advice that can be given to my confused mind.

Thanks Nan and I agree but her times were so mixed up and needing to go back to work...I guess I just panicked.
My apologies to this board.

I’m glad you are posting here now. Many of us don’t catch all that need help who post on the main forum. @jt and trouble (GA) Next time this happens please post the link to the health post. I for one am glad you posted here but the link would have been helpful.

So a few thoughts on your health post. Freeze dried meats are almost all very low or no carb so that’s not a mistake. I used to give freeze dried meats as a treat after each poke. I wasn’t feeding raw then but am now and there are lots of 100% raw freeze dried meats to use. My young girls love them.

Once you have enough data to know how she will respond you will be able to shoot lower numbers. At least until we help you figure out a dose and get data on that dose if I were you, I would follow SLGS. There are people who work and follow TR and do fine but I wouldn’t do it, at least right now. Your dosing on the ss doesn’t make sense to me so I’d just start with the 1 unit. Hold the dose unless you see a drop under 90 for a week and then do a curve testing every 2 hours over a cycle. If not sure whether to shoot, stall, DON’T feed, and ask for dosing advice. Get tests in at various times while you are still home to see where she’s at at various times. A +3 with Lantus often gives you an idea of whether you will need to test more. Try and get a test between +5-7 as most (but not all) reach nadir, the lowest point in the cycle) then. Some cats have a late nadir closer to the end of the cycle so some tests at +10 or 11 might answer that. The more info you have the easier it will be to figure out what to do when you return to work.

Does this help? Any questions?
