Hi everyone,
So my kitty seems to be alot better since the diet overhaul to only low carb, grain-free, high protein canned food but a day ago I noticed he has about 1/2 way lowered hocks (neuropathy kindof?). I tested his bg at home this afternoon b4 feeding him and he was 69, this a.m. b4 eating he was 158, and last night b4 bed he was 77. He is not and has never been on insulin.

So he hasn't pooped for 2 days (since he had the runs from I believe lamb I gave him as a treat) but I gave him a little of the stupid Hills W/D to help with the runs and I think it may have worked too well.

1. Should I go and buy psyllium and add to his food regularly? I'm feeding Wellness Grain Free, some Evo and Blue Seal's By Nature- organic turkey and chicken....He had been pooping on a more regular time period in the short time he's been eating just canned but I was wondering if others add fiber to lower fiber canned cat food? If his body is going to work it out ok without I'd rather let it but I don't want to endanger him if he's constipated.

2. I saw a link for the Methyl B12 / Xobaline and am wondering if I should get this to treat his partial neuropathy or can his body heal that if his bg numbers stay low? If he's getting a reading like 158 in the a.m. though does that mean his pancreas won't heal and his neuropathy will stay or get worse? I didn't seem to read anywhere that the Xobaline would be dangerous to him as he'd pee off any extra?

3. Should I be super worried about Carageenan? If he doesn't seem to have regular bouts of stomach issues? Should I look for more cans that are carageenan free? I know the by nature one has guar gum but no carageenan.

4. forgot this last question.. hmmm..oh yeah, unfortunately the wellness chicken and herring seems to cause a bit of sneezing after... this probably is a sign of an allergen?

Thanks everyone! :)

hmmmm... guess I'll try searching the forum and the net again but was hoping for personal experiences for feedback :(

I have one kitty here that is allergic to fish and he does sneeze more on it than other foods, so we try to avoid foods with fish.

One thing I did for my furry kids that seemed to take care of the poop issues was I add about 1/4 of a can of water to their wet food. I know others have added a little bit of miralax to their cats canned food with great results as well.

You are correct about B-12 what he doesn't need he will just pee out.

Hope that helps some.

Thanks MommaofMuse, I do add quite a bit of water and I think you are right, his sneezing is prob. related to the fish, of course the food he only really wants so I'm trying to wean him off and he's rebelling a bit.

I just checked and he pooped overnight/this a.m.! :)
