My little guy wasn't a big eater during the day. As a matter of fact, he went from the morning to the evening without eating his dry food (prior to changing to wet) I heard him on several occasions eating in the middle of the night though. Now, he eats his wet food in the morning at around 6:00 am- 6:15 am (about 2.7 ounces) and eats at night, approx. 6:30pm (around 2.7-3.0 oz) and is good...........until around 3=4am. The Vet said he's eating the right amount of food (around a 5.5 oz DM can----sometimes a 1/4 of a can more) but he's starving at 3-4 am. I try to hold him off until his 6:00am feeding (prior to his morning shot before I get ready for work) by giving him 2 tablespoons of food to hold him over, but it really doesn't work. Any suggestions? Ren (my kitty) is a big guy---has dropped some pounds and is looking good. But he gets fustrated and Dad is reallllllllly tired? Any help would be appreciated.

As long as he is finished 2 hours before his am test, the timing should be okay. If the problem is waking Dad up, have you considered an automatic feeder? I love my PetSafe 5 (the only one they haven't been able to break into). I freeze pucks of wet food in a silicone cupcake pan, pop them out and refreeze in a baggie. Then at night, I put one in, set it to the time I want him to eat and sleep through his early feeding. You can even set it to go to an empty section 2 hours before that am test.

Hi Sue-
I didn't know about the feeder! Thanks so much. It sounds like a great idea.
You have been a great help and I'll let you know how it goes.
Have a good day!
