After losing my kitty Tabitha on Friday, I was ready for some good news. To make a long story short, two cats from the neighborhood had three litters of kittens in my yard this spring (yep, missed the spaying window of seven weeks after delivery on the first mama). So I've been taking care of them and working towards spaying in a male-free environment. The first two kittens tested FIV positive at three months (like Mama) so they had to be retested at six months. The six other kittens from the same cat needed to be three months old to get a more accurate test. (The other mama is negative.) The challenge was using a pill form of dewormer on eight little kittens. I know what a diabetic's finger must feel like. The great news - all of them, even the previously positive kittens are now negative! I think the l-lysine helped strengthen their immune systems after Mama's influence left their bodies. Now to get the diarrhea and stupid fleas under control and find some homes!
