Hello All,
It appears that my Tooter has gone into a spontaneous remission of sorts. He's been OTJ for five days now and seems to have balanced out. I know it can come back and I'm continuing my regular testing but for now, we're going to enjoy the Christmas blessing as long as it lasts and know that if it does come back, we can handle it. I just wanted to offer a huge THANK YOU to all of you who have been so helpful in offering me advice and encouragement. I don't post often, but you all have still been life savers by just sharing your information. When we changed Tooter's diet to a low-carb, all-canned diet, I got a little excited about his new insulin dose and you all calmed me and encouraged me to give it time before making more changes. You were right! It's been one month since his diet change and my momentary freak-out and we're doing so much better! His neuropathy has improved a little and he's actually going up and down stairs and jumping. That's right -JUMPING! Every time he does it, I think I hear angels sing.
Anyway, I've shared this site with my vet because I think it should be required reading for every new diabetic cat parent and I appreciate all of the awesome, amazing folks on this board so much! May you all have a wonderful, peaceful holiday wherever you are!
