Recap 9/9

163 AMPS (1/2 dose, fasting)
At CSU all day for preliminary SRT exams
216 PMPS (1/2 dose) Question below
150 +2
116 +4
149 +9

Question. I don't know what to expect this evening, after her first radiation treatment. I'm sure radiation oncologist and internal medicine doctors will clue me in when I pick up Polly. Still:

Excellent appetite last night after anesthesia. Small meals every 20 minutes or so 'til curfew. No problems at all.

I really feel like upping her PM dose to avoid the pinks, but...she has been dropping in the PM+2 through +4,5,6. Down near 100. Normally I'd love those numbers, but...no food after 10:00 pm because she'll have anesthesia again tomorrow.
so I've been feeding, even a little hc when she hits near 100. Still w/ time to test to see impact and post impact.

If she drops scarey (not likely but possible), I will be be in a tough spot. Shouldn't eat, shouldn't hypo...conflict.

Advice???

I am beyond fatigued. Not all that clear thinking. Slept a bit after dropping Polly off for blasting. Might get another snooze before pick up. Decided to stay through Friday overnight, leaving Saturday even though we could leave Friday at check out. I need some sleep before tackling the drive back. And I want Polly t have a day w/o a carrier before heading back.

Vines, wishes. And more thanks than I can every express.

Re: 9/9 Polly. Day 3 SRT. AMPS 300

Ask the folks at CSU about flexibility of food cut off time. We were told midnight but could feed HC later if needed. Do you have karo around? We did full dose at night but Neko was in the reds. I also fed some MC as last meal to keep her bumped up.

Neko was a bit bug eyed and dove for cover when we got home after the first treatment but fine after the rest. We might have picked her up a a bit early after anesthesia too. Our IM vet there gave us her cell phone number to call if we needed help. See if you can get an after hours number for questions.

Sending no big deal vines and hugs. :YMHUG:

Re: 9/9 Polly. Day 3 SRT. AMPS 300

Ah, leave it to Polly to keep you guessing when it comes to numbers, fuds, and curfew! Hopefully she won't put you in the position to have to address it, but obviously preventing hypo would be top priority. Did the folks at CSU have any suggestions on how to best address it, given your unusual circumstances?

Sending prayers for a very smooth Day 3!!

Re: 9/9 Polly. Day 3 SRT. AMPS 300

I am so out of the loop, I didn't even realize you were in the midst of getting SRT done. I wish you The Best Of Luck and hope you got your answers to your questions. I'm sure there must be someone you can call after hours, with questions.

I just read the story about the missing Polly  silly kitty cat_pet_icon and I know how frustrating finding a kitty is

Hugs to you, and a few hours of good restful sleep.

Re: 9/9 Polly. Day 3 SRT. AMPS 300

Sending more prayers that everything went well today and you won't have to worry about low numbers tonight.

Re: 9/9 Polly. Day 3 SRT. AMPS 300+10=264 PMPS 269 (10U)

This cat is amazing! And so is CSU. I mean, I can barely tell they're doing anything to/with her while she's there. She comes back to the hotel late afternoon (today after her first radiation) and she's walking around, jumping in the window, eagerly encouraging me to feed her. I mean, it's like nothing happened to her at all during the day ... oh, no. Maybe this is a scam and they really just take her for the day, do nothing, and then give her back.

Oh wait a minute. Something about her appearance tells me she really did get radiation today. Hey, Polly. Look at me.

OK, I guess you're getting SRT!!! But I never expected her to be so fine and dandy about it.

Good Grief, Anne. I'm on the floor again. Another memory image for a souvenir. Thanks.

Wendy, they were rushed today; advised me yesterday that today would be a busy day. But I did get the ok to feed as late as midnight...and I have honey; the hypo kit sits right on the bathroom vanity next to her test stuff. I have mc and hc food. I also have the 24 hour line number. And I have LL!!! So, regular 10 units tonight..

If I were a cat, I'd be rubbing against all your ankles saying, thanks, thanks, thanks.

Tomorrow, an echo. No, she doesn't need it, but the cost is so minimal I couldn't resist the offer. There's also a big sign announcing a guitar sale on the corner of Harmony and College. I don't play guitar, but hey, a sale is a sale!

And day two of radiation.

Is that a green bandage on Polly? I hope it doesn't give her ideas tonight. She does look pretty relaxed in the pic.

Getting a baseline echo is a great idea. Wish I'd had the opportunity at a reduced price instead of what I did pay. I love that CSU are constantly doing studies. When we were there, they told me that if they needed to do an MRI it would have been free.

Re: 9/9 Polly. Day 3 SRT. AMPS 300+10=264 PMPS 269 (10U)

How wonderful that Polly is feeling well and not thrown off by all the strange surrounding and people.

I hope you got some more rest in before you picked her up. Tonight might be busy... or not. She's still a cat, after all!

Sending continued healing and good SRT vines.

they were doing some study when we were there too that got us some free test - i think maybe the echocardiogram. if only i could remember what it was! hahahaha i could go back and look at punkin's condo, i suppose.

well that thought took me down memory lane for the past half hour. if you get bored and can't sleep, here is punkin's second day at CSU. i had to stop and watch the video of him - he looks a bit doped up. I'm glad Polly's alert and doing ok.

Hoping tomorrow is just as easy. Like Wendy, we thought the first day was the most difficult and long. The T-Wed-Th days ended about 1:30 or 2, if i remember correctly.

Yowser. Polly's definitely on the move tonight. So glad for another good Polly/CSU report.

Hope the hc helps her level out!

Oh, I'm calm. Just looked up the 24 hour csu # to write down and keep safe!

I will test again at 9:35 MDT. Will see what the hc gravy might have done.

Then try the gravy with honey.

Got to get her surfing in the next 2 1/2 hours. Can do.

Yikes Miss Polly - time to hop on that surfboard!

When I asked the CSU folks what would happen if I had to feed Neko after midnight, they said they could deal with it, but to let them know. Safety first and you have that extra day of hotel booked should you need to delay. They always said the treatment would be done in 4 days but to budget for 5 if you needed to delay a day. FWIW - when Neko had her dental last December, the dental vetty said she could eat a small amount until 6AM.

Re: 9/9 Polly. PMPS 269 (10U)+1=218+2=109+2.5=80+3=95

Better!!!!

I did do a dab of hc. I know. I know.

I'll be off the food 'til midnight (well and after!), but keep checking and if she drops back down, I'll do what I think I need to do.

Thanks, Wendy. I'll feed past curfew if I have to but keep good records of what, how much, and numbers.

Thanks for being here everyone. I should love these numbers, right. Tonight, I don't!

Whew. For now.

Re: 9/9 Polly. PMPS 269 (10U)+1=218+2=109+2.5=80+3=95

Hi Marilyn and Polly. I see that you are not exactly getting a relaxing evening in your hotel! I hope she surfs nicely for you and you can get some rest eventually!

Re: 9/9 Polly. PMPS 269 (10U)+1=218+2=109+2.5=80+3=95

Thanks Deanna. I'll nap tomorrow!

Yes, Julie. I know what to do. I just need to keep my wits about me and stay awake!!!! Can do. I looked at July 27 on her spreadsheet. She came up with honey (more than a drop, though) and stayed surfing for a bit and then climbed.

We'll be ok. (anti jinx)

Thanks.
