We're going to the vet tomorrow for a general check-in, and I want to get a whole round of blood and other tests in as she has to get a blood test anyway to test her phenobarbitone levels. I know she's verging on CKD (probably stage 2 now), so I want to get the
  • BUN/urea
  • Creatinine
  • USG; and
  • SDMA

I don't know what the Australian version of a senior panel includes, but should I also ask for the following:

  • T4 thyroid
  • specific fPLI
  • IGF-1 add in (I don't think Girlie needs this as she's not a high dose cat - is that right?)

Is there anything else I'm missing? On her SS, I've listed the lab results from the tests we got back in June 2017 when she was in hospital, and her results from April 2016 pre-diabetes; they didn't include certain tests that are on the list, but I want to get the crucial ones in especially for CKD so I know where we stand, especially since her BG levels have been better and her urine might be less dilute now.

I'm not sure about the specific tests but vetty vines to Girlie . Hope for nothing but good test results:cat:

The senior panel, called Geri-panel here, includes the total T4 test. Idexx includes SDMA, other Labs do not. Unless sh's showing sings of pancreatitis, I wouldn't include the Spec fPL. I also wouldn't get the IGF-1 test. It'll be quite expensive as the blood has to go to England or USA, and I don't think it'd be a concern. High dose is not a given with acromegaly, there have been acros with doses as low as 1.0 unit. But nothing you have said about Girlie would make me think it's worth testing for.

Thanks, Wendy. She had an ultrasound in July/August (will have to check) specifically to check her pancreas, and all good there, so I won't go for the Spec fPL. I'll also forego the IGF-1 test as I haven't seen anything that hints at acromegaly for Girlie.

IDEXX has changed the names of the tests. Gizmo was getting the Senor Panel now it is called Preventative Care Feline fPL. It doesn't appear that the T4 is included but it shouldn't be too much to add it on (heck of a lot less than having a separate test later).

You can look at all they (IDEXX) test for on my labs tab on Gizmo's SS. If you want to look at the actual lab report it is hyperlinked up in the header where it gives the lab "description/date" (header). (here is the link - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1cD6gcp78I7VVB2MG8wYU0yUTg/view)
