Hi LL,
It's been a very long time since we checked in. I know you've heard this story before, but my life has been unbelievably crazy. While we have stayed on top of giving Nadia her insulin, I have been gearing up for a medical procedure for myself that is occurring on Thursday which has required doctor appointments multiple times a week which ar 1.5 hr drive away each way, on top of working full time, and trying to help my dad who has been in poor and declining health. Nadia has been at the top of my priority list, but checking in on LL has not been.
Also, Nadia injured herself a couple of weeks ago when she jumped off a barstool. They thought she tore her meniscus and would need $2000 surgery. But as an answer to my prayers, she was crate rested and the following day wasn't limping anymore. The vet still required a week of cage rest which is over now, and she still seems to be doing great. Her blood sugar levels on the other hand, have been all over the place but mostly high. I've tested for ketones with a blood meter and they have stayed at 0.2. Also, I was able to find a pet sitter who may be able to help us out. That's been a huge relief with everything else going on in our lives. I predict she will be coming for the first time (on her own) on thursday to do the morning feeding/shot routing but I'm a little nervous about this too. Especially because Nadia has been really uncooperative for testing lately.
Anyhow, today I am working from home because her BG went from 191 to 94 in 2 hours. I'm worried shes tanking. I gave her some low (although a little higher-ish carb food 9%) and will be keeping an eye on her.
That's where we've been in a nutshell.
I expect our check-ins to be sporadic still due to this medical stuff I have going on, but I'm going to honestly try to do it when I can. Thanks for understanding!
