Morning!!! ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O)

I havent done the AMPS or her shot yet (its too early) But I thought I would get my condo going, in case I get too busy later to write this post. I tested her about an hour or so ago. Its in the 400s. Im going to assume its bc she got a half fur shot in her AM shot yesterday. I hope these numbers come down. They have been high for a while now. Last night I have her a new food. A Whiskas chicken pate. Yesterday I bought the wrong one and didnt realize it until this morning. The Pate has 10 carbs, I meant to grab the Whiskas chicken dinner which has 4 carbs. ohmygod_smile (Ive been so frazzled the last few days, im making stupid mistakes  ) Friskies is pate, not Whiskas ohmygod_smile So she ate most of what I put out last night (about 2 oz) That may have contributed to the high numbers. Although they were high before I gave her that food....

Other than that shes doing great. She officially hates getting her ears pricked. And hates her tube feeds too. She keeps trying to get away from me. LOL Shes also refusing to be be closed off anymore. So I let her have more free roam of the house when she wants. Daytime, she stays in the master bedroom/bathroom/closet area. At night I let her out of the bedroom to snooze on the couch with Connick (who still hisses at her) while Hubs and I watch TV. She always looks so peaceful. Sleeping on her back :-D In the mornings I let her out to hang out on the window sills.

Other than that, not much else going on :) Im having a hard time figuring out the ratio of tube feeds to self feed... Im actually really curious to see how much she would eat on her own if I wasnt tube feeding her at all. Would she eat the small 3 cans she used to before she was sick? But Im to scared to even try that. I have cut back the tube feedings a little, but Im to nervous to do much more than what I have already. Baby steps...

KT, Karrie, Melissa, Trixiecat, Sandy, Marjorie, Nancy -->> Thank you guys for your posts yesterday. I re-read them again this morning and feel much better today. I went to bed early, got some good sleep, my spirits are higher and I feel great! There will be other weddings and more trips to the zoo. One day I will be able to sleep through the night again and not have to blend cans of catfood everyday. I just need to look at this as a temporary situation, not permanent one. If there is even one cat out there, whos owner has read my story and has done the same for her little one, and saved her life, then it is definitely worth it. Knowing I still have Garland here and shes almost back to old self brings me great joy. I would have been devastated to lose her. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all your kind words yesterday. I will admit, they had me tear up a little. Yall are the best!! I really needed that yesterday ((((((hugs))))))

YESTERDAY

Re: 9/9 Garland AMPS (coming soon) Last BG 407

Have a sick cat is no different than a sick infant -- it's hugely stressful. It's wonderful to hear how well Garland is recovering. Clearly, there's a light at the end of this tunnel!

I'd wait a bit on increasing dose. These high numbers may be a bounce off of the blue the other evening. Let's see how things go in case it is more the influence of the furshot.

So what should I shoot this morning? 2.75 or 3.0? I was told to increase it Thursday to the 3.0. I did for the PM shot. Do you want me to go back down to the 2.75 she was on before?

Re: 9/9 Garland AMPS (coming soon) Last BG 407

I couldn't find who told you to increase in your condo from Wed. or yesterday. Did I miss the post?

Given the ketone history, leave the dose since if you had a fur shot, it's a way to get the shed rebuilt and not cause numbers to be wonky due to rapid dose changes. What I would do, though, is make sure to keep testing they way you have been in case the numbers come down quickly.

Here is the post from a few days ago to do the increase

Hello!
The gravy in HC is where *most* of the carbs are, there's really no way to know what rinsing the gravy off does to the carb % of the remaining meat
I would stick to something 5% or under from Binlys chart. Have the HC on hand for when you need to guide numbers up.
If there's no significant change in Garlands numbers overnight I think it's time for 3.0u in the morning.

Hi guys .. no advice on the feeding tube or dosing questions from me .. just wanted to say I think you are doing an awesome job with garland .. yes, it does get frustrating dealing with everything (and you've got plenty on your plate) but you are smart to look at this as a temp problem .. every day garland is getting better and that is because of YOU .. your love and devotion to her .. have a great weekend guys!

Violet, I"m pretty darn sure she's saying leave it at the 3.0 you started with this morning. What I am taking away is that she's saying that you gave a fur shot potentially, so the little bit extra will help to rebuild the shed and if by chance you didn't give a fur shot, going back down to 2.75 would be a rapid dose on dose change, making the 3.0 the better choice again - so fur shot or not.....3.0 is the better choice. Then she says to make sure you are testing a lot (which you are already doing) in case the numbers drop quickly from this new dose.

Give her response another read and see if this makes sense - I definitely don't want to speak for anyone, but wanted to give you my interpretation of the answer just in case you don't hear before shot time!

PS - I"m so glad to know that both of you are feeling well today. You have been through so much!

WAHHHH - well that made me all goopy. i somehow missed your condo yesterday and read it just now. now i'm soggy. but everyone is right - and you are also right. this time you're investing in putting Garland's needs at the top of the priority list - well, you'll never be sorry. it's not forever, it's for this week. you can do anything for a few weeks.

you are doing a wonderful job taking care of her - and my constant amazement is that you're doing it with little kids. i have 3 - 2 years and 3 years apart, and ohmygosh, that alone is exhausting when they're little. and that you take care of yours (including a birthday party) and add in a cat in crisis, tube-feeding - the whole shebang - you're my hero.

One time my youth groups did an event that focused on Everyday Superheros - well, you are one. good job.

You are right. Now that Ive re-read it, I agree with that. Wow... I dont know whats wrong with me the last few days. I think Im sleep deprived. I feel like my brain is all mush. I have a hard time sleeping on a regular day (borderline insomniac probably..) It takes me close to 2 hours to fall asleep once I get into bed, then im a light sleeper, so any itty bitty noise will wake me up, and it takes another hour to fall back asleep after that. So all these nights the last month of getting up and feeding Garland and testing her, plus the nights my kids wake in the middle of the night, and their 6am wake time, is taking a toll... I probably only get about 4-5 hours of sleep a night.....zzzzzzzzz....Means Im a walking zombie during the daytime LOL

I will do the 3.0 tonight. Thank you for the response :)

((hugs)) Thanks Julie :) Wow 3 kids? I can barely handle my two. They are 18 months apart. My daughter just turned 3 and she is a HUGE handful. I want to say shes what most people would consider a "spirited" or "active" or even "difficult" child. She throws tantrums at least every hour and destroys everything in her path. She has a speech delay as well, so its always hard to know exactly what she wants, or why shes upset. Its very exhausting. I love her, couldnt live without her, but wow... what a handful LOL . I always say it just means one say she will be a great leader bc she will want to do what she wants. Not follow someone elses lead LOL

Re: 9/9 Garland AMPS 416 +5 333

Hello Violet!
No worries. Just think of this mornings shot as a partial fur shot.
Yes, go with the 3.0u tonight . Like Sienne suggests, keep your usual testing up incase of any quick changes.
Have you checked for ketones today? (I'm at tbp and can't see ss)
