It's been a while since we've seen a green +2 in the morning...work it Trix, surf it Trix!

On another subject, my senior civvie, Mario, needs to start taking denosyl. He's VERY difficult to pill the "traditional" way, and he can be a bit hit or miss with pill pockets, although I do use PPs for his BP meds. He seems to be a bit challenged with the "chewiness" of pill pockets, so rather than scarfing them down, he chews and chews and chews. This works OK with the amlodopine since it's so tiny. But, with teh denosyl being considerably larger, do you guys know if it would be problematic if we cut the pill and gave it to him in several pill pockets? While I know it will fit in a pill pocket if we leave it whole, I just have a feeling he's going to have trouble with it.

Or...if anyone has any other ideas on how to get this pill in him, keeping in mind that shoving it down is throat is really not an option, I'd appreciate it!

Good morning! Way to go Trixie! What a pretty green +2. Hope she surfs for you and has a green lagoon day.

No help on the pilling. Tarragon gets a pill once a day and I have to shove it down his throat. That is the only way to do it, but we have it down pretty good now to where he doesn't freak out about it.

Hi guys .. beautiful start to the day trixie! I hope the green numbers stick around .. No help on the piling question .. our civvie is also impossible to pill until we found the miracle pill pockets .. she loved them so much that once the pill actually popped out and she licked it right up! Please cross post on Health. Some pills shouldn't be cut and I don't know if Denosyl is one of them.

If pill pockets don't do the trick, you can put a pill in a chunk of raw chicken. Using cream cheese or another soft cheese like Laughing Cow, is also an option.

The directions (see above) say that the pill should not be cut. However, there are posts on the board (and the old board) whic say that it is acceptable to cut the pill, as long as you are aware that this will reduce the efficacy. There is discussion in the post below about increasing the dose to compensate for cutting the pill. There is also discussion about the requirement to give it on an empty stomach vs. giving it with food.

it's pretty great how someone knows just about everything you could ever ask! trixie is looking great today - what a nice set of numbers! i hope mario is doing better soon!
 
Don't know if it's the food switch or the dosecrease or a bit of both, but we're finally starting to see a bit of more typical "Trixie" numbers...
