Good Morning Everyone,

I'm a bit late this morning because I had to take my car in for servicing. It looks like our lovely blue surf and shallow curve of the last 2 days is over: Stu dropped 200 points betrween +1 (when I left for the garage) and +4.25 (when I got home). DH had given him the 3rd installment of breakfast, but he didn't eat a lot of it. I gave him some 8% when I got home and he ate it all (while leaving the 5% in his dish!!). Grammy's Pot Pie trumps Cowboy Cookout today!! We had to shove his Methimazole pill piece down his throat. I think he got it down. Damp, intermittent rain, very windy here today. Stu didn't want to stay outdoors very long.
We'll have a +5 in 10 minutes. Back then.

Ella & Stu

P.S. 65 at +5 so I fed him another teaspoon of 8%. I think this is a good number for +5, but want him to stay in the mid greens. Oh wow, another party. I'll be there!!--Stu

Oh boy Stu..take it easy today boy....surf the morning away now, okay?

Stu:
We have a New Moon tonight my friend!
Par-TAY!!!
We are all going to wear black to blend in with the dark night.
You are good to go with your fine fur as I am too...
See you tonight...we figured we should have an impromptu
party cause we are all in the mood...

whoa there Stu! Slow down buddy, OK? Well a good day to be cat monitoring if the weather is as nasty as it sounds. we have dense fog with rain, cool temps: Mannie didn't stay out long either. the perimeter got the once over and then back in he was.

STU! DUDE! a party - and we need a menu!! I was thinking maybe some grilled smoked salmon - with wood chips in the fire. I am headed on down to the steam to catch some more. What else should we do oh master chef? I am stumped - not too sure what a new moon party would require.... call me - Mannie

Re: 9/8 Stu AMPS 248, +1 262, +4.25 69, +5 65

Yo Mannie, Great idea about the grilled smoked salmon! I've put on my thinking cap and would like to try chopped chicken liver crescents in puffed tuna crust. Do you think the gang would like something like that? (crescents = new moon: get it??) Let's alert the kitchen crew!

Re: 9/8 Stu AMPS 248, +1 262, +4.25 69, +5 65

Hey Stu - I can bring all this salmon, shrimp and snapper that my bean keeps showing me. I don't wanna eat it, but she keeps telling me cats like that sort of thing, so maybe some of you all would like it? Can't wait to par-TAY tonight! - Muffin

Surf Stu, surf!

That Stu sure does like to dive. I hope he'll surf those greens today. Ella, how did the fluids go? I hope it went okay and wasn't too stressful.

Stu, I can't wait to see you at the new moon party tonight. Did you hear about Binks wearing high heels? Yowza! Love, Blackie

Re: 9/8 Stu AMPS 248, +1 262, +4.25 69, +5 65, +6 86, +9.5 130

Hi again,
Ele, and Michelle: I am chagrined to report that I haven't given the fluids yet. I'm too nervous about it and will want to go back to the vet for another lesson next week. Tomorrow afternoon we head down to camp, where it is difficult to monitor and where conditions are primitive. Friday, early morning, is the start of the 90-miler canoe classic race from Old Forge to Saranac Lake (3 days: 90 miles in all; many portages). We are the "pit crew" for a friend. So Stu will be at camp for most of the day by himself on Friday. We come back home on Saturday to help get food and drink to our friend later in the afternoon that day and to be at the finish on Sunday. I didn't want to try the fluids this week because--well, I'm afraid to! He's been doing so well lately (good numbers; no vomiting hairballs; good results in litterbox; good energy; much interest in his surroundings) that I just don't want to rock the boat (or the canoe, as it were).

130 at +9.5 Not a bad day for Stu, who is looking forward to the party tonight.

Ella

Lovely run of numbers today, for Stu. He deserves to party tonight. Checkers thinks chopped chicken liver crescents sound Heavenly.
Your weekend sounds like fun, Ella. Sore muscles type of fun. :-D Hope you have gorgeous weather for it.

Re: 9/8 Stu AMPS 248, +1 262, +4.25 69, +5 65, +6 86, +9.5 130

((((Ella)))) Don't beat yourself up. I understand completely. I put off starting Blackie on fluids until the last possible moment. I wish I was there so I could help you. One more lesson at the vet and you'll feel more comfortable.

Your trip this weekend sounds wonderful. I'm envious and happy for you at thes same time. I hope you have good weather.

Re: 9/8 Stu AMPS 248, +5 65, PMPS 198

Great morning for Stu, and he managed to hold onto blue for PMPS! Hooray! :-D Your activities at camp sound fun; I bet your friend will be glad to have you bring food and drink for that race. Whew! Buzz flew out the door a little bit ago to the New Moon Party, so hopefully Stu can still put her to work in the kitchen. Have a great night, Ella!

Re: 9/8 Stu AMPS 248, +5 65, PMPS 198

Ella - no worries, and yes - completely understandable... Been there and I know who you feel. Give yourself some time, and a few more lesson(s). I know when I learned the vet gave me a couple lessons, and with each one he made me give them under his supervision, guidance. I was a big fat chicken - really didn't want to have anything to do with it, but well - it came down to health of my kitty, as he was pretty bad off. so there I sat in that office with my guy and the fluids, and a vet who literally held my hands and guided them along until I did it on my own. After a few times it was easier - easier with each time I gave fluids. It will be for you too. I know you can do it.

and what a wonderful trip!! the pit crew - that sounds like a wonderful time, and experience to support your friend like that. uhhhh - be prepared - Mannie will want to come and stay with Stu. :-D

have a great evening! Very nice numbers for Stu. Mannie on the other hand went to the pink floor.... nasty!

Re: 9/8 Stu AMPS 248, +5 65, PMPS 198

Thanks for the pep talks Ele and Michelle!! I think I'll be able to do the fluids. But I worry about my "helper" (DH), who faints at the sight of needles!
It would be great if Mannie came to camp on Friday to keep Stu company. Maybe some of the other kitties would like to come visit, too. They can do some cooking. I think it will be too cold for surfing or swimming!!

The new moon party is in full swing. Stu said that he hoped Duchess would come, and apparently she did. Wonderful!

Ella

Re: 9/8 Stu AMPS 248, +5 65, PMPS 198

Sorry I'm no help on the fluids; I tried to give Buzz fluids once at home and it was a disaster. :o I am glad your vet is giving you lessons, though; that must be reassuring, at least. You will be able to do it soon, Ella! Look at all the information you've absorbed and all the techniques you've learned for FD, and remember how scary and intimidating it was in the beginning. You will do great and so will Stu. :-D As far as your DH and his phobia, I got nothing.

Buzz will definitely want to come help keep Stu company. Perhaps he could run a mini cooking school, making a new dish each day, with the kitties cooking him their favorites on the last day. Iron Cat America!

Re: 9/8 Stu AMPS 248, +5 65, PMPS 198

I wish I could be there and help you through your first few times. :YMSIGH:
I know it seems so scary and hard.
For all the things I had to do with Latte, fluids ended up being the easiest to administer...and hardest to mess up. Of course not in the beginning...i had a vet tech come for the first month or so, then a neighbor helped, and my roommate. Finally, Latte and I decided it was much less stressful to just do it on our own...and we did.

Ive attached a photo of us doing fluids solo. My right arm was free to give her pets, or do whatever else. Eventually I just ended up giving it to her while she sat on her throne, since getting picked up seemed uncomfortable.

When you are ready, you will be fine.

Thank stu for the wonderful fudz he shared with duchess, and the pep talk on the wet food. She ate 1 3 oz can today...compared to not recognizing it as food, or trying a lick here/there. I think you all made a difference in her spirit!

Partay on!

Yup, turkey muffins!
Carolyn, that's an awesome picture of the solo fluiding! Latte looks so calm. I may have to resort to something like that, since Edward is a basket case when it comes to needles!!
Stu is very happy to hear that Duchess is liking her first experience with wet food. And he's thrilled that she came to the new moon party tonight. He and Mannie hope that the food selections were to her taste. The whole kitchen crew was delighted that she could come, especially Shadow.
Thanks for checking in on us!

Ella & Stu
