9/8 Noodle PMPS 265 Nadir possible at +12? Anyone have this?

In looking back over Noodle's SS, it seems that often (not always) he seems to get his lowest BG right before time for the next shot. I know the "normal" nadir is at +5 to +7 but is it possible, or likely to nadir at +12? Anyone else ever have this? Thanks, all!

yes, it's possible to have a nadir at +12. Jenks routinely has very late cycle nadirs - you could look at his ss. Nadirs can move around, and until you get to a better dose it can be hard to see what they are doing. I see some of Noodle's nadirs are mid-cycle, some later.

When a bounce is happening or clearing, it overrides the regular Lantus cycle, so the nadir can be anywhere. Same with New Dose Wonkiness. Maybe when he settles in on this dose things will be a little clearer.

This does happen sometimes. Those nadirs do like to float around. Also, with the dose increase, his shed may be a bit fuller now and really getting a hold on working the insulin. Make sure to get another test for +1 or +2 and if he is still dropping or starts to drop faster you will want to keep vigil with the tests. This is great :-D He's already working that increase!!

When Neko was on Lantus, she had a variable nadir. I observed it anywhere from +3.5 to +13. On Levemir the onset and nadir are later and she often has it at +12 now. I see hardly any tests in Noodle's SS in the +10 or +11 time frame. That could tell you a couple of things. First, it can be a warning if numbers are dropping all day and give you a possible heads up on a lower PMPS number than you are used to. When kitties are breaking a bounce, often their nadir will be later. The +10/+11 will help you understand if Noodle gets the "double dip" that many Lantus and Levemir kitties get, where they go down again at the end of the cycle, but not as low as the nadir. We talk about filling in the white space on spreadsheets, where you get a few tests at times that you don't normally get. These can be helpful in the future.

Thanks for your thoughts. Noodle really isn't consistent yet but at least a few nadirs seem later than the norm. I think Noodle often must have New Dose Wonkiness. About the time he seems predictable, he'll throw me a BG 70 points higher. S-I-G-H. Patience pants, patience pants, patience pants---where can I get some? :shock:
One question--if I am raising Noodle's dose every 6 cycles, at least right now, wouldn't I constantly be subjecting him to NDW or bounces, and they would never have time to clear? I have worried about that...

Our guy Zener often has the "double dip" Wendy refers to and frequently has his nadir at PMPS. He rarely has "a normal lantus" cycle.

Yes, I see you're right. I have nothing in the +10 or +11. I'll try to fill that in somewhat. I guess I was always looking for the nadir to be at the "normal" time so thought, why test so close to shot time? But now I see where that information might give us a clue. I had never really heard of the "double dip" before so thank you for making me aware of that possibility.

Hi Christi!

My guy Eddie sometimes heads down for an entire cycle and his PS or +12 is the lowest number of the cycle when he's bounce clearing. When I see a cycle-long slide like that, it's often a heads up that he's planning to keep me busy the following cycle. :smile:

Thanks so much for your response to my question. I'm relieved to know that Noodle isn't the only one to not have a "normal" Lantus cycle. He seems all over the place and it has worried me that I can't seem to pin down a predictable nadir yet. Maybe I never will, if the nadir is variable. I appreciate your telling me of your experience with Zener. It is really helpful. Thanks so much!

That floating nadir has really kept me baffled so I thought I'd just put it out there and ask, and I'm glad I did :smile: Thank you for your very helpful response! I rarely get a +1 or +2 but I can see how it might be a helpful clue of what's to come. I appreciate your help--looks like I need more tests on both ends of the cycle :smile:

Until I made this post, it never occurred to me that part of these low +12 might be bounce clearing. I never really thought Noodle was bouncing because he never (to my knowledge) dropped real low. Of course, maybe I'd never know unless I tested him every hour on the hour, which of course is excessive. I think what puzzles me just as much is often Noodle will get a high reading at, say, +6 and the drop much lower again at +12. I have such a hard time interpreting those variations. I think I've aged 20 years in the past 4 months, since Noodle was diagnosed :?
