After a few months of doing a bit better, Iris is once again severely congested and has lots of discharge coming out of her nose and ears. She has also lost half a pound and is down to 5.5 pounds. :( She has no interest in her regular food, but is at least willing to eat some baby food. The vet has put her back on ABs (Baytril). I am just glad that she has Mandarin. He doesn't leave her side when she is feeling crummy and he is just the best big brother she could ask for.

I am just so torn about doing further testing for a polyp. She would need a CAT scan and putting her under really scares me. But to make matters worse, even if they found a polyp, they might not be able to remove it.

Everyone else is doing well and both boys are starting the day in the lagoon. I don't have to be on campus until this afternoon, so I finally got to catch up on my sleep a bit.

Poor little kitty! :(:bighug:

Oh dear Christina, poor little Iris :( How old is she now...about a year of so? How sweet that Mandarin takes such good care of her. I'd be afraid of anesthesia too so hope the AB's help.

Keep surfing boys and sure glad you got a little sleep in :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

given the timing, could it be seasonal allergies??
True, that is a good point, especially since she likes sitting in the open window. I tried her on allergy meds last fall and it didn't seem to help much, but I might give it another shot if the ABs don't help.

Ad here is a picture of my baby girl and her big brother.

Little Iris Fritz sends kitty scratches and head bumps:bighug::bighug:
It is so frustrating when you think sweet this is behind her and wow symptoms are back. I can relate Fritz had a clear drainage for over a year never did figure out why just one day went a way. Now he is back to stuffy nose and can't smell his food.:arghh: I have no clue, I have mentioned to every vet he goes to as soon as I mention polyps it seems to go in one ear and out the other.
I sure hope the Ab clears it up. Are you familiar with the AB Orbax? Fritz had pneumonia and was prescribed this and it worked and he loved the taste would like it off a saucer with his food. He is sensitive to other Ab's not this one.
Mandarin you keep up the cuddles! Nice to see the boys surfing!!!!!:D

Interesting - I would love to find an AB that my cats eat! I have to check on that. I went with the injectable Baytril this time since I have such a hard time pilling Iris and since it is so much easier to dose it down enough for a cat that is as tiny as she is.

Hi ! I just finished a course of Orbax for Beenie. Its a liquid and I just squirted her dose into a FF snack or her dinner (a larger portion of FF). It worked really well as she had a suspect sinus infection. Before I tried it I asked my vet about an injectable AB and he said that won't work as well and wanted her on a 10 day course or Orbax.

Your kitties are sooooo cute:cat:

The boys are looking great! :D:D:D You must be so proud!
Poor little Iris. I have no suggestions but I'll send some extra special Canadian breathing vines for her. How nice that her big brother takes care of her. :bighug:

Mandarin, you are an excellent brother to little Iris. Love the pic!

I hope the congestion clears up soon. Rusty's congestion is chronic and flares frequently. He's been tested for everything. He lives with it pretty well.

Sending breathe better vined to Iris
