Hi from Camp Stu,
Very late today. We had to get to the start of the 90-mile canoe race early and there was no time to post. We were there all day. Rusty spent the day sleeping. He hardly touched the food in his automat. But he was mighty interested in hunting red squirrels late this afternoon ( they got away). His numbers are not surprising, since we get these bounces/stress indicators every time we drive to camp or to the city. Rusty doesn't like his routines messed with!
It was a great first day with light winds and not too hot. Our friend, for whom we pit crew, had a personal best for the first day of the race: under 6 hours for the 33 miles (including about 3.5 miles of carries). Tomorrow we are supposed to h ave heavy rain all day. It is the toughest day of the race and includes a punishing carry of 2 miles on a steep trail around falls/rapids. In heavy rain it will be realy tough. We don't have to do anything tomorrow because to reach the carry and get back again to the road is a 10-mile hike. He is on his own!
To visit some condos now. I'm sorry to have missed so many lately and am thinking of all of you. Thanks for visiting Rusty.
