Happy Labor Day, Everyone!

We are doing our "traditional" Labor Day pursuits: an easy paddle on Moose Pond with our Monday Paddles group around noon, and then assembling at the home of one of the paddlers for a Labor-Day picnic this afternoon. Our friend and houseguest had already made plans to visit another of his friends in Lake George (about 2 hours from here), so he won't be joining us. Stu gets to stay home and go to the ongoing beach party at Shadow and Raja's!

Mr. Cat had a good night. I found him sleeping on his pillow on his test spot this morning! Most of his overnight food had been consumed. All litterbox contributions in order. Breakfast installments 1, 2, 3 already eaten (Cowboy Cookout for 1 and 2, Grammy's pot pie --8 %--for breakfast 3, served at +2 and the 8% given to keep him from deep sea diving. We've been outside walking the grounds (saw 2 deer: a little buck and his sister, yearlings, I think, or maybe 2 years old, both of them lying down in their leaf beds--depressions in the forest floor filled with leaves from last year. I felt bad that they thought they had to get up when they saw us).

So that's about it for the report today. Everyone in the US, enjoy your holiday. All kitties, enjoy having your beans home.

Ella & Stu

p.s. 139 at +4--good slow descent today. Fed some 8% because we're leaving now and will put some 5% in his dish for later.

Sounds like a great day you have planned. Between you and Michelle and the kitties I feel like a stick in the mud.

Stu is looking really good, what a good idea to nap on the testing spot. No need to get up and move.

Hi Ella, by now you are having a wonderful time at the BBQ. I am stuck here in the mud also. One offspring is out of town, and the son, who normally has the cookouts, is planning birthday bash for his DD, gonna be a whopping seven years old, in couple of weeks. Hope Checkers lets me go.

Looks like Stu is going to surf blue waters for you today  Bet he's having a blast at the beach :-D

Re: 9/6 Stu AMPS 180, +2 162, +4 139, +8 153, PMPS 269

Hi again,
We're back from our Labor Day pursuits. The day started out cold (46 degrees) with sunshine and got cloudier and cloudier, and very windy. The paddle was in very gusty conditions--challenging, but fun. We had 24 people. One of our number spotted a lot of smoke at one of the campsites on the pond, checked it out, and found that the campers had simply picked up and gone without dousing their campfire. In those windy conditions it could have caused a major fire. So we spent some time putting it out. Then on to our Labor Day potluck cookout, enjoyed even though the weather by mid afternoon was cold with drizzle. Stu had Cowboy Cookout in his automat and had consumed all of it by PMPS (but I don't know when he finished it, so the PMPS of 269 could well be a food spike). He has been hungry today and has lots of energy.
Off to a few condos now. We hope everyone had as nice a day as we did.

Ella & Stu

Fantastic day!!! Sometimes the not so good weather outdoor things are truly just a ton of fun. But I am truly bummed by the campfire that was left smoldering/burning/abandoned. You are so right on the possible outcome. Kudos to you guys for taking care of it, and protecting what nature has given us. What a great day you had! I on the other hand cleaned out a storage area.... not fun.

Stu!! You got any of that cowboy cookout left? it sounds so good, and my bean never buys it. what will i DO with her... My civvie sister hurt her leg today - she is hobbling around the place - it makes me sad. my bean says she doesn't know what happened, that maybe she pulled a muscle or something, cuz there are no marks or nuthin'... she's a silly kitty - always getting into places that are too small, and far down, or or or... i hope she doesn't have to go to the vet - I may go with her cuz she gets really scared there. Hey - the beach was fun today - I didn't bean anyone with my horseshoe, and Tess showed me how to play vole-eylball. Maybe we can go again tomorrow? See you!! ~~ Mannie

I've got to admit the windy, wet trips are the ones I always remember form our BWCA days.

Hope the PMPS is just a food spike, they do like to do that to us.

nice day stu...

and mannie...bring you're civie sister to the beach!

binks

you guys make me anxious to get up home to the family ranch- part is near Mccall ID and part near the gateway to Hell's Canyon. it's been almost 3 months since i blew out my knee and haven't been riding since. Anyone who like horseback excursions is welcome to come along...sugarcats too! One rule tho...we will do NO ranchwork, unless it's a cattle drive. (yes...i come from a part of the country where we still have 3-4 day cattle drives.) Talk about your Cowboy Cookout!!
