Wow, I guess the new dose is working! Let's see if we can maintain good numbers today. Rusty had a good night, good test this morning, shot was iffy (I didn't smell insulin, but the syringe didn't "pop" out and there was a wet spot on his fur--which may have been from my nose dripping?!), breakfast consumed in 2 sittings. I tried to interest him in playing and partially succeeded (Big Bug and a whiffle ball with bell); now he's napping on the couch. No contributions in the lb yet this morning and now that I know he has crystals, I worry about that.
The rain has stopped (we had 24 hours of rain, some of it heavy) and the sun is supposed to make an appearance this afternoon before the rain comes back. Tomorrow we're going down to camp to get ready for the 90 Miler, 3-day canoe race, which starts on Friday. We and another couple are pit-crewing again for a friend, but only on the first day of the race, which is the most difficult day. We will meet him at the carries (portages) with replenished water bottles, snacks, etc., then jump in the car to get to the next carry, etc. and finally wait at the beach in Blue Mountain Lake for him to finish (a bunch of our friends will be there, too, and we will have an impromptu beach party while watching the racers come in). The guy we are supporting is a canoe builder (Placid Boatworks; we have a couple of his canoes) and will be paddling his newest model. He's a really fast paddler and will finish near the top of his division, so we will be on the run to get to the portages in time to replenish his supplies.

Thank you everyone for your support yesterday. I was really worried about Rusty. I am doing a lot of reading on crystals so that I can converse with the vet on Monday.

Everyone have a good day. Healing vines and thoughts to all kitties who could use them.

Hey Kitties, I'm going down to Camp Stu tomorrow and hope that everyone will come to visit me there. We can hang out on the dock, fish, swim, and grill. See you tomorrow afternoon,
Rusty

Re: 9/6 Rusty AMPS 91

Wow! Look at Rusty this morning! Fabulous AMPS!

The race sounds like a lot of fun tomorrow. They do a similar thing in Iowa with bikes and it is a blast to be the pit crew. Good luck to your friend and hope you have a great time!

I would be interested to hear what the vet says about the crystals. When Tarragon had them, I was still in shock from his FD diagnosis and didn't understand a lot of what was happening.

Have a wonderful day Ella!

Hey Rusty! Camp Stu sounds like a blast. I'll be there! - Tarragon

Re: 9/6 Rusty AMPS 91

Sorry to hear Rusty has crystals, I hope you get lots of good information about it. Let us know what the vet has to say.

Have a great day.

Re: 9/6 Rusty AMPS 91

Hi Ella, nice AMPS this morning for Rusty, and I bet you see some nice numbers with the new dose. Sounds like he's feeling better, too, and even some play time. Hope it wasn't a fur shot and you still got some juice in him. I always listen for that faint pop sound, too. The 3-day race sounds like a lot of fun. I wish your friend a lot of luck with the race.

Hey Rusty, yay, we all want to come visit you at Camp Stu tomorrow. Mannie will round everyone up and can't wait, Maggie

Re: 9/6 Rusty AMPS 91, +5.5 68

Hi again,
68 at +5.5. Keeping an eye on Rusty, since we are close to nadir now. He hasn't had much energy this morning (except for eating, that is). I just cleaned the litterboxes and hope that he will use one soon!

The 90 mile race begins on Friday, not tomorrow. Fortunately, because the weather is supposed to be much better on Friday.

Back later. Have to take DH to the chiropractor. Will check Rusty again before we leave (in about 45 minutes)

Ella

Re: 9/6 Rusty AMPS 91, +5.5 68, +7 90, +8 96

Hi again,
Rusty just enjoyed some time outside, came in to eat his +8 chicken snack and took the opportunity to pee in the new litter. Good boy! Now I can go for a walk!

Sorry to hear about him having crystals do you know if the vet is going to recommend food to dissolve them? I may have missed a post concerning this since I have been away for several days confused_cat

Re: 9/6 Rusty AMPS 91, +5.5 68, +7 90, +8 96, PMPS 127

Hey Lisa,
The crystals and "amorphous debris" showed up on the urinalysis we had done last week as part of a baseline "profile". (see the lab results in my signature). We have a dental scheduled for Monday and the vet is also going to x ray Rusty's bladder to see if he has a stone. We haven't discussed yet what might be done to dissolve the crystals. What foods do your vets use to dissolve struvite crystals? Marje suggested that we try a Chinese herb mixture called "Passwan", but I'm a bit leery about going that route. Herbs can be very powerful!

Nice to see that you got home safely and that the show was a success. Have a great evening,

Ella & Rusty

It's nice to see Rusty in such good numbers!! What a fun time that race sounds like, with a great party afterward!! Awesome!! I hope your friend does really well.

I hope the dental goes well and they don't fine a bladder stone. That would be just one more thing for you to worry about!!

Have a great evening. :-D

Hi again,
We are about to turn in. Rusty just enjoyed his FF T&G bedtime snack. Still cold and rainy here. I hope we have some better weather down at Camp. We're going to leave in the late morning.

Ni ni,
Ella & Rusty

So glad to see Rusty coming back down into Rusty numbers.

Oh the canoeing race sounds like so much fun. I hope the weather clears and you have a safe trip to Camp Stu. Tobey and Gracie can't wait to get there. Tobey said he'll not be able to sleep tonight because he's so excited about seeing Auntie Ellabean tomorrow!!
