I've been so skittish about Felix's sudden lower numbers in the last few days that it's only now occurring to me: This is good news! Maybe we're finally getting somewhere!
I'd gotten accustomed to being relieved when Felix was in the 300s and fretting when he got into 400s (or higher), and I'd never seen him below 250 until the other day. He eventually reached the Lantus 6-7 unit range, and I got the impression that that's the point to consider if it just isn't working. Since he kept looking and feeling better, I was reluctant to rock the boat. (Looking and feeling well is what the vet advises we go on, with fructosamine checks every 3-6 months. I'm relieved to have found you all to support me in doing more than that.)
It's also wonderful that Felix has been so especially cheerful lately.
I usually had to pull him from the closet to do tests, and after a test, he'd run every time he saw me coming for days. But the last few days, although he gets pretty squirmy during the tests, he then just trots off to find a nearby patch of sunlight and basks as if nothing happened.
