Oh sweet Elmo. :cat:

:bighug::bighug: Beth. Just remember... you are doing all you can right now and doing it correctly. Just try and be patient as frustrating as it is.
Thanks, Lizzie :bighug::bighug: He gets this reading then picks a fight with each of the 16 year old civvie brothers :joyful: That gives me encouragement that there's still a few rumbles left in him :bighug:

Glad Elmo ate well last night. Sorry for the high numbers, but he will come back down. It's probably a good idea to get a test around +3 to see where he is.
Thanks , Carla :bighug: May grab one at +2 , just for curiosity sake :rolleyes: but definitely at + 3

+3. HI ...can anyone say " pokie break":woot: :rolleyes: Will give Thyroid meds at +4 but no pokie...when would y'all suggest the next test ??

I'd get a +10 or +11 to see if he's come down before you get PMPS.
Thank you, Carla ! May have to settle for + 8 as we have a vet appointment for civvie in afternoon at little after +8.Hopefully will be back by + 11 .

Oh Elmo! Picking a fight with your civvie brother??? At least he's feeling spunky...hope he comes down soon. Lantus takes a little time to get going...+8 sounds ok to me...

Enjoy your day Beth!

I think +8 is good. +10 would probably be pushing it. Longest HI streak so far has been a little over 1 cycle and you're just about at that point with the +2. I'd even say as early as +6 wouldn't be out of line.

I have one eye open. Elmo is still safe and you gave 2 tsps of food. Take a test and see if he is continuing to go down. You can feed him to slow the drop.
The longer Elmo stays in nice numbers, the more his body will get used to them.

Thanks to you both :bighug: I'm glad he's safe but do I try to slow his drop to hopefully avoid another bounce. This ole Gpa Man is fond of his bouncing :woot:

Guess I'm asking how much to feed to slow things down but not interrupt the better numbers ? He dropped by 100 several times in a row ...

He does like to bounce. The ole Gpa Man has found a new way to keep a spring in his step. I think he's a Paul McCartney fan.

That is a matter of trial and error. Check how much the 2 tsps at +4 affected the +5 reading. If not enough, feed a little bit more than 2 tsp. If the same, feed 2 tsp.
+4 307 fed 2 tsp
+5 ???
Keep notes so you can refer to them over time. See what works and what doesn't.

Bed for me. Meds are kicking in.

it is rather a "when " to feed question v. the what to feed.
He started too high everyday so any kind of drop it one too many.
In such high numbers neither nadir nor the onset are obvious.
And the feeding to interfere is dependent upon your ability to stay up at night and to take tests and to post and discuss it all here. Is it an option?

Yep , I'm up as long as necessary :woot::woot::woot:

Tanya, an FYI...he is getting full and I am having to help by syringe feeding some of this. He has not acted hungry at any point in the last 5 hours...sleepy and lethargic

@Beth 73
I see no apparent reason for you to stay up so late at the moment. What I would do (if I may?:))
is to offer a little LC snack(2 teaspoons) to Elmo extra to what you would normally feed by that time in the cycle.

If you can get a late in the PM cycle test it would be a tremendous help - like +10 or pmps +11 - +PS(taken later, obviously) = good idea as to where the cat is going on this dose.

Sounds like a plan, Tanya:) Thank you for the late night paw/hand holding . Tho we did this almost 3 years ago ( and on vetsulin) I feel a newbie ! All your help so very appreciated :bighug:

@Beth 73
it feels VERY odd to understand why you would refer to yourself as a" newbie". But I do understand.:bighug:
Good night.
Feed Elmo something nice, something he likes - the Bg will be subdued, sooner or later anyway.
