Mr Zeke was very hungry this morning. From the looks of his food bowl this morning, my guess is he hasn't eaten since +6 last night when I tested and feed him about 1 tbls LC (with coaxing). No coaxing needed this morning though. He probably ate in excess of 2 tbls LC. Soooo, I expect his +1 is gonna be >300.

Should I have tried to limit his food this morning as his BGs typically continue rising through +2? Maybe wait until the insulin kicks in? {Guess, I didn't need to worry about the food, huh?}

Interesting that his BG dropped from +11 282 to AMPS 255. His BG is typically rising at that point in the cycle.

Now +3 108; +3.5 104.

Come on kitty let's have some nice little (safe) surfing today!

+5 85: Gonna give him a little canned salmon and offer him 1tsp of wellness LC (we'll see if interested).

Hi guys .. interesting for sure .. I wonder if this is going to be an active cycle for zeke, meaning you might want to keep an eye on him :mrgreen: have a great day!

The 93 @ +4 is still okay. Has he eaten since breakfast?

Yes, he's been eating hourly about 1 tsp LC. Behavior is normal; alert.

OK then, I would say these are really nice numbers :-D I would stick with LC, get a +5, or +6, and try to keep his numbers in the 80-100 range for as long as he feels like "surfing" today.

Any updates on Zeke's numbers?

With any insulin, it's helpful to have food on board before insulin onset. With the shorter acting types of insulin, you are instructed to allow your cat to finish a meal prior to shooting. With Lantus, because it's long acting, it's not necessary to feed prior to shooting since onset for many cats is at around +2. Many of us do spread out meals especially with a cat that has a tendency for fast, early drops in numbers.

A second drop in numbers later in the cycle is not all that unusual with Lantus. We refer to it as a "double dip."

FWIW, you may want to edit your SS for 9/3. You can stack numbers in a cell. If you look at Gabby's SS you'll see what I do. The text will wrap. You will need to manually color the cell, though.
