Vanessa, your new kitty barista

I hope everyone has had a great week. We have been.... well, busy again!:joyful::cool: I just can't imagine not being on the go. ;) It keeps us out of trouble, and makes for great times! I often think back on the weeks happenings, and wonder how in the world did we do all that! It was the same this past week. We have had a week of adventure, and fun, and feels awesome to be back at it. The weather has been good, temps cooler at about 65, outdoors has been our afternoon playground after mornings of swimming for both boys, short of Thursday when the threat of rains loomed. It has been a good week... :):)

I am continuing with a different method for the photo links this week, same as last week, providing the link to Google/Picassa photo albums, rather than individual links to the albums themselves. It seemed to work the past few weeks, and does save me alot of time. :) So.... here ya go: Photos for the week: A week in the life of Nicholas & William: 8/29 - 9/4/2015.

AWESOME WEEK in the pool! :joyful::smuggrin::) Last Friday was the last day of the summer session(s). There is a HUGE part of me that is very glad. It has been intense, but I am forever amazed at how well both boys, and especially Nicholas with his swim classes, took to it all. The boys had such fun being able to swim together, that alone has been worth the time spent. Summer programming does not allow us access to the "big pool" and deep water, but even without that they made do. AND (!!!) on last Friday Nicholas passed his current skill level, and will, come fall, advance to the next one, what they call A Youth Safety 4 level. :woot::woot::woot::woot::woot: These classes are geared for the elementary age kids, and wow, to have a 4 year old be at the top of the level is really darn amazing. WTG NICHOLAS.:woot: This week there have been no lessons, a lull in that until fall classes start on 9/14. We still went to the pool, as both boys wanted to be there. It was nice in that with no classes, we had access to all of the pool areas, including the "big pool". How awesome to be able to use that again. It was nice too, for me, to see that I can now handle two boys in that pool, as Nicholas can take care of himself, and William, just loves being there, no fear. WOOT! :woot::woot::woot: Friday we went in the afternoon, rather than our usual mornings, and took in one of their "open Swim" sessions, which gave us access to all areas of the pool: tube water slides, lazy river, big buckets dumps, diving boards, and the "big pool", as well as our usual beach area. WHAT FUN! Nicholas was so in his element and did everything there was to do. William was so busy trying to keep up with his big brother. He had a ton of fun leaning about areas of the pool that are somewhat new to him. We had an awesome time. Followed it all up with a "burgers and fries" pigout, outdoors picnic style. We were elated that the weather cooperated! We are grateful for our time in the pool. It has all enabled to boys to explore anther aspect of growing up, one they really enjoy. It has just become the norm for us, we go each week, and just never tire of it. It proves to be such fun for both boys, and their excitement with it all has not wavered. And then there is that Friday (night) burger feast....
GO NICHOLAS! GO WILLIAM !!

William: he's got one heckuva kick!

Nicholas: He learned the art of cannonballs this week!

We are back to adventure after adventure. What fun it is to have so many cool places to have these adventures in. We have taken advantage of rainless days, and warm temps, and are grateful that the hot weather seems to have left us for a while. :):woot: Fall seems to be in the air.... ;) Thursday was our questionable weather day, so we opted to play it safe and went to the Seattle Aquarium. That was fun, as it has been such a long time since we have been. With our exceptional summer, we have focused on the outdoors, saving things like the aquarium for those rainy days. It was great to be back there. Weather was good in the afternoon, so we spent some time in the WaterFront Park, with lunch outdoors, and ice cream to follow. YUM! We spent our afternoon and /or mornings, at Edmonds City Park, and Bothell Landing Park, with some down and get muddy time on the Sammamish River at Bothell Landing Park. Those two boys sure love the rivers, big like the Sammamish, and small like the creek at City Park. They just can't stay out of them, and the mud sand dirt and rocks that go with it. FUN TIMES, just watching, and participating with, boys being boys.

Nicholas & William: HOORAY for ice cream! :woot:

William & Nicholas: Barefoot rules, even when it is 49 out....:rolleyes::cool:

For my own personal time, I continue to hike the local trails here when I can: Meadowdale, Picnic Point, Mesika and Scriber lake. It is great to have such good places to go to when time permits. Due to weather, wild fires, and appointments I really didn't have anytime to travel for a hike, but hope to rectify that this upcoming week. Out wetter weatehr has helped with the wildfires, and some of the areas I hike in are open once again. YAY! I can hardly wait to get back out there!

Physical Therapy update. I had my second PT appt for my shoulder problem, That was great, and I really think it will help me recover some of what has been lost with range of motion, and arm strength, I liked the guy, he seemed to know his stuff. So... I will continue to go there once a week for a while, and do the exercises he gave me daily. YIPPIE! Things are improving. :)

Normalcy in Three MusketeerVille. :cat::cat::cat: Kitties are doing well, and adjusting to the loss of their friend Elsa. They are doing well, and there really isn't much change from last week in their overall well being. Bug is still being cuddly and befriending Vanessa. He has become the new patriarch of the family, taking over for Elsa. Lola is still escaping, and has decided that Vanessa is her new best friend. They can often be found hanging out together. I can't decide if that is good, or not.:rolleyes::smuggrin: Still no fighting, so all is well with he group. Lola really seems to have mellowed alot over the summer, "growing up" I guess. She still is my crazy feisty girl, but I find I am saying "LOLA STOP" less and less. :joyful: Vanessa has adjusted well to the group now, and spends a good percentage of her time upstairs, napping and playing in various rooms. Seems she really likes kitty toys. I will get up in the morning to find then scattered about the house. . We now have one group feeding in the mess hall, with no issues. Vanessa had a vetty appointment Monday to check on her ears, due to an inflammation in her ear canals discovered at her last appt a week or so ago. There is some ear wax buildup, the skin is still a little inflamed, but over all is better. we will continue with the Zymox for another 10/14 days to see if we can clear that up. She will go back on 9/14 to have the ear(s) looked at, and helpfully the meds will have helped get the inflammation down. The vetty seems to feel that this is a chronic condition with her, as there is alot of scar tissue in there, indicating it as been a recurring problem for her. So... something for us to watch over time. I will however, be SO GLAD when these meds are done. Vanessa does not like anything put in her ears, so this has been a battle. All in all: Normalcy in MusketeerVille! :cat::cat::cat:

Lola, one of those rare nap times...

I hope everyone has a great Caturday. it is catch up day here: shopping, laundry and maybe a local hike this afternoon, as it should be a sunny and warm one. YaHOO!

KITTIES!! Remember: BLUE, think GREEN :cat:

barefoot at 49 isn't so bad except they are on damp cool ground it looks like. popsicle toes....

hope your shoulder therapy helps.... my dh had surgery several times but he's fixed since the last one with a better dr.

i haven't mastered a group feeding.... it's like herding cats when I feed mine....each has a tower to eat in and I have to figure out who will
stay in place first. my husband won't help since he's having fun watching.

I envy your herd feeding. I have to feed my herd in different areas, depending on where they hang out. Harvey has to get his food first, or he'll follow me to wherever the first plate goes and start eating that! When they were young they all ate in the same room, but as they grew older they developed their own spaces. Gives me some extra exercise, for sure!

My DH had rotator cuff surgery a couple of years ago, as did my brother and several of our friends. It's amazing how common shoulder issues are! I hope your PT resolves yours. I'm sure it makes daily life more complicated to have that discomfort, and you're always so doggone busy, you don't have time for complications!

Love Lola's picture! Just wanna scritch that chin!

I'm glad the PT is helping your shoulder. How great the boys got to enjoy the big pool together. I hope the continued Zymox helps Vanessa's ear heal. Furball has scar tissue in her left ear too. She has chronic ear problems. I have to clean her ear once a week to try and prevent infections. She doesn't like it very well, but she lets me do it. Since I started cleaning her ear weekly, she hasn't gotten very many infections. My old vet recommended Cerumene for the ear cleaning and it has worked well.

Hi Michelle,
What a great week you had. Congrats to Nicholas for his promotion into an advanced class! And William is benefitting from his big brother's experience. It's neat that the big pool is again open. The hikes and outings sounded like fun. And soon you'll be getting back to the mountains. I sure hope the fires can be gotten under control. We hear awful reports about the loss of horses, cows, not to speak of the animals of the forest.

Vanessa, your Ethiopian espresso was wonderful this week. Elsa would be proud. Vines for your ears!
It sounds like all is well in the kitties' world. Have a good week, Michelle. I hope your shoulder continues to improve. Edward had a bad shoulder for several years and he credits his yoga with fixing it.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Hi everyone! I hope your Caturday has been excellent. It has been a "mellow busy" here. I did get the chores done, and even managed a woods to shore walk, while the sun was still out. That was nice, Came home and worked the yard some, until my shoulder said better stop. ;) Been a great day here! Time now for some R&R, been a long week!:cool:

@rhiannon and shadow (GA) Hi Rhiannon :):coffee: I know on that 49... the water wasn't too cold, but the ground was. They lasted about 20 minutes, and had fun while they had shoes off. Popsicle toes indeed! :woot: THX on the shoulder. I too hope the PT works,a s I really am trying to avoid surgery. My tear is small, so I hope what we are doing will work. Paws crossed! I've heard stories of folks, like your dad, where it took a few attempts to get things fixed. I hope that isn't me.... Wow on the no group feeding there it seems to be the norm that most people son;t Mannie was the only one that got fed separately as he was diet specific, and I couldn't have the others eating his fuds, they would have too. I would love to see feeding time at your place. :)

@Tricia & Cinco hi Tricia :):coffee: Another one with no group feeding. I must be the odd ball! :):joyful: It is interesting that they developed there own space as they aged. Mine have never done that, they all have their spaces, but they also all show up waiting for dinner too. too funny how things can be so different. Many THX on the shoulder. I have heard from alot too that have had shoulder issues. Who knew it was so common. Certainly not me until I was in that boat. And yes on that discomfort. There are certain things where I definitely feel it. ARGHH! Makes it difficult to lift the boys when need be, and I've been told I have to stop that so.... a challenge for sure! THX on Lola's pic. I personally think she is one gorgeous kitty. :)

@carfurby Hi Carla :):coffee:Many THX on the PT stuff, so far it does feel better, but I still have a ways to go. So I keep plugging away, doing the exercises they have given me. THX too on the boys. That aspect as been so much fun for all of us! I appreciate your input on Vanessa's ears, as I know you deal with this issue with Furball alot. I will ave to be diligent about keeping her ears clean once we get through this current problem. I wish she was a better patient! LOL! I will look for the Cerumene. I forget now what my vet gave me, but it wasn't that. Maybe she will like that one better. paws crossed!

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) Hi Ella :):coffee: THX on the week. I enjoyed it, and thought it was a good one for the boys, lot of variety too. THX to on Nicholas's promotion, he was so excited! hard to believe he is only 4! We are all SO GAD that we have the big pool again. it was wonderful to be back in it!:cool::cool::cool::cool: THCX on the hikes, and I too cannot wait to get back to the mountains. They are been a few problems with animals, hard to care for them in a raging fire, but there are several groups, mostly volunteer ones, that have been working with animals, with amazing success. I so hope for the wild ones.... The fires are slowly being contained, but it has been a year for the record books, most devastation in over 115 years. THX on Vanessa's ears. I hope we can get this under cntrol soon, so she can get a break from the drops... she is not a good patient!:blackeye:o_O:rolleyes::cool: Many thanks too on the shoulder. My paws are crossed big time! interesting on the yoga. I may have to look into that!
Auntie Ella! :cat: I am SO GLAD I have been doing OK. Mannie's coffee book was so precise... it is tough! but wow, could he ever turn out a good cup of joe! So I follow his directions, and Elsa's lessons faithfully. Guess I am learning OK! YAY! ~~ Vanessa, kitteh barista

Awesome week for you as always. What great pix of the kids, furred and not!;) Sending vines for Vanessa's ear check.

Vanessa, is I, Tess, KTSS liaison. You wants us to come after your vetty visit? We gets vetty smells off and then we cans all join you in the hot tub! -- Tess

Many congratulations to Nicholas on his swimming :)

Is William wearing nail polish? No wonder he wants bare feet to show those tosies off! Says she who only ever wears shoes to work

Nice on the cimmumum donuts Vanessa, you are one multi talented kitty :cat:

Morning everyone! :coffee::coffee::coffee: it is a rainy cool day in the PNW. Where are those rays of sunshine this morning? ;) The kitties are all snuggled in their beds... sure is quiet here!

@Anne & Zener (GA) Morning Liz :coffee::coffee::coffee: Me to on the all is well. Many thanks for my darn (!!) shoulder, and Vanessa's ears. If only she would take her medicine like a good girl. Well, guess I wouldn't enjoy someone putting stuff in my ears either...

@Ann & Tess Morning Ann :coffee::coffee::coffee:, and John :coffee::coffee::coffee: I know... busy always seems to rule here. All is good though, boys had a great week. THX too on the pics. I sure do hope Vanessa's ears get back to normal soon, she is not a good patient.:rolleyes: It does sound like we will have to try and stay ahead of the game with her ears, looks like a chronic condition for her.
Tess! YES! That would be so cool! I don't smell too goods after those vetty visits.. and then there is that ear stuff, it smells awful too, not funs at all! Hot tub is ready!!! let's do it. Lola wants to know if Emma can come too. ~~Vanessa, the worlds worst patient :cat:

@Vyktors Mum Morning Serryn :coffee::coffee::coffee: THX on Nicholas' swimming. he is so excited about it all. He sure does like to swim. :) LOL on the nail polish, they both were. Long story there, but both boys like to have their toe nails done, for football season when the Seahawks are playing. Nicholas's were blue green and back. William followed suit, what was good for big brother was good enough for him. Most has worn off now except for that black on William's big toe(s). YUPP! Agreed on that bare-footin'!
Auntie Serryn! WOOT you likes my cimmamum rolls? COOL! They are staying in the line-up for sure. :) ~~ Vanessa, kitteh barista :cat:
