The price for greens, a bounce. Fair trade off since the more she sees lower numbers the less her liver will go into a fast-track mode to raise them up. But, Hyde, break the bounce gently and quickly...ok?

78 to 581... now that's what I call a bounce. Such nice #'s last night.

Has Hyde been tested for acro/IAA or have you considered such? Looks like you might finally be overcoming glucose toxicity with this 7.5 dose which is great.

She has a vet appointment tomorrow and they will draw blood and send it to Michigan State for testing. I am pretty sure that it will come back positive.

I am very interested as well. I'm hoping that's not the case and you just had to really jumpstart that pancreas but it's good you're checking. Luna is kind of due for her test though I'm hoping we finally found her magic dose at 6.0 and can start decreasing soon (did our first reduction this week!).
 
So, I have cleaned the house a bit and gotten some stuff ready for tomorrow and then I sit on the couch to watch a little tv. Flipping back and forth between Princess Bride with Andre the Giant and Moonraker with Richard Kiel (Jaws) both actors had Acromegaly. Is it an omen for tomorrows vet visit/blood test?;);)

speaking of notable cases, i find it amazing that it appears as if Hyde may be clearing her bounce already. That's fantastic, although I'm pretty sure you were planning on sleeping tonight. Clearing a bounce in 24 hours is great progress. I think if I were you I'd take a nap for an hour or two and recheck her. It looks like she's slowing down tonight, but I'd still get at least one more check in, just in case this is the bounce clearing.

When the vet sends in the order, make sure they test for both acro and iaa. So many only check for acro thinking that iaa is rare, and it's really good to know what you're dealing with.

Interesting about the actors. I've heard that many of the most famous basketball players have acro. In cats, my understanding is that it's always accompanied by diabetes, but apparently that's not true for humans.

I remember seeing Jaws in James Bond, not too long after Neko was diagnosed. One European study showed that only 22% of humans with acromegaly get diabetes. But we don't really look to diagnose kitties with acromegaly unless they have diabetes. Who's to say that all acrocats have diabetes. There was one study of kitties with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) that showed a large number with excess grown hormone - but not all were diabetic. And I heard of one person with an acrocat who had a second kitty that showed some acro symptoms. He blood sugar was fine, but he did eventually test posititive for IGF-1.
