Hi there! You had a great cycle today! That's very nice to see. I like how you track the readings with the meter and the Libre when it's under 100. That's so helpful. I'm frequently telling new people with Libres that, in my experience, the Libre tends to read lower than the human BG meter when the numbers are under 100 and that they need to do an ear prick before freaking out too much.
 
I started keeping track of that on each sensor when I myself realized I was panicking when I didn’t need to. Heh. And each sensor is actually somewhat predictable in its variances… for example when this one reads in the 60s, BG is actually in the 90s… and when it reads in the 80s, BG is in the 100s. And “90s” is really higher 100s to low 110s. But you have to figure out each new sensor’s pattern the first time or two kitty goes down in that range. After you do though, it does make for less poking, if you’ve kept track of the variances (give or take ~5 point shifts, which clinically is meaningless). Up to a point. Once the sensor leads LO it’s blood testing only until kitty comes up. Which with this sensor seems to be around BG 80….
 
Jackson got his shot tonight when he looked to be starting his post-greens climb. Much to my surprise, he’s now dropped even more. And with hours to go of active cycle... :nailbiting:

Looks like he’s heading for another slight reduction, if he can’t handle the dose without being bounced high first…

What surprises me is that there is variation between he different sensors. You would think they would all be calibrated the same somehow. It’s kind of like my ReliOn Premier meter reading differently than your ReliOn Premier meter. It seems strange.
 
Yep, he got right back to work tonight after today’s green (which is actually a good thing) and he has hit that magic 80/LO on the Libre that you were just talking about.

You would think.

But there do seem to be about three patterns they fall into. They seem to bottom out (from “50s” on down) at occasionally 20, but more commonly 30 or 40 points lower than reality. So depending on the sensor, “40/LO” will usually equate to around 70 or 80. And then each sensor gets less and less inaccurate as the numbers trend up to somewhere between 100 and 110, where typically they agree (within a few numbers) with the BG.

Since I have multiple family members helping to check and occasionally shoot Jackson when I’m at work different shifts, and they pretty much flat refuse to try to learn ear pricks, I’ve now kinda made something of a focused study out of these things… heh…
