Morning ~O) ~O) hope our Mannie has some strong special Mannie brew! Well, I'm surprised Maggie stayed in the blue after the renal LP food I tried on her. I almost thought it might be okay, except for the catch up at the PMPS. There are a couple others on Dr. Lisa's list I may try. I found some Merrick Surf n Turf which meets the phosphorus requirements, but it's fish, and I guess we need to be careful because of the ash and UTI's - is this the reason? Maggie is not as playful this morning, but her appy is good, and she did have prrezzies yesterday. Oh I forgot, she's probably really tired because of two parties last night - Max's OTG Party and the Full Moon party. She was also sampler of all the food! :-D Otherwise Maggie seems okay. Laundry for me today and I hope TJ's, as my freezer is empty, except for two items. I've been so busy with Maggie lately that I just get take out or enough for a day or two. Have a nice day; I think more hot weather for us today!

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187

Morning! ~O) ~O)
Do you think the food brought her numbers up towards that ps?
I'll be doing the same....looking at food today.

Hope Maggie can slide down today.... Glad she is starting in the blues....

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187

Hi Rhiannon, I think it was the food that brought her up at the PMPS! It was a higher carb that I liked, but the phosphorus was good for her renal disease.
I just tried a Merrick Surf n Turf this am, but also a little of the Wellness Turkey.

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187

Hope Maggie finds a food she likes that's low in Phosphorus. I understand we limit the seafood due to the mercury as well as kitties becoming addicted to it and not wanting to eat other stuff (poultry, etc.).

Thanks Teresa, yes on the mercury, too for the fishy flavors. I think I can cross the Merrick Surf'n'Turf off the list, judging from her +2! It could also still be food spike, as Maggie doesn't Nadir until around +5. I seem to remember the last time I used it, there was a spike, even though it's lc!

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187; +3 216

Morning Ann ~O) ~O) ~O) Special, from Mannie, made just for you. Best to not to ask what is in it....

Good luck with your fuds search. I use Merricks Surf and turf for Mannie too - he likes it, doesn't spike him at all, maybe it will work for Maggie as one additional fuds you can use. I wonder though with that +2 this AM. so so hard to find fuds that work with renal stuff. The royal Canin is good, but also a little higher carb. I think Ann of Ann and Tess uses Wellness. Wishing you luck!

I hear that Maggie was the worlds best sampler! Mannie say the job is hers!

Enjoy your day Ann - I hope you get out for a walk too, amongst the chores.

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187; +3 216

Good morning Ann & Maggie,

Such lovely AMPS! Could you please come back down to the pretty blues?! Thank you!!! ~Deborah & Shasta

Hi Michelle and nice to hear that Mannie like the Surf'n'Turf and it doesn't cause a spike! Thanks, too, on the coffee. Whatever Mannie added, it's really good!

It looks like Maggie listened to you, Deborah. She may come down a little more but not much, no diving or cliff hanging with this girl.

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187; +3 216; +5 179

Glad Maggie came back down for you. Definitely another hot day - supposed to be 99 here. I'm so ready for this heat to go away.

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187; +3 216; +5 179

It's nice to see Maggie back in the blue! I'm glad to hear that shes feeling great too! Hope you enjoy the beautiful hot weather.

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187; +3 216; +5 179

Hey Mags, nice to see you in the blues, sis! Still beating the boys away with a stick? I'll come over and protect your honor if need be. Your bro, Leo

We're back up to yellow; I think it's the Merrick Surf'n'Turf!

Hi Anne & Muffin, yikes on the 99 degrees. It's 92 degrees here today. I am ready to say bye bye to the hot weather, too and get down to some nice 70's!

Hey Leo, my bro, yes, the boyz are still a knockin on my door. I have to pretend I'm not home it's so bad. Come over and visit me, Maggie

Hi Tamara, yes, she started out nice in the blues but now climbing back up to low yellow.

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187; +3 216; +5 179; +8 219

Uh oh, Ann....just as I wrote down Surf n Turf, to get some for Checks, I see you think it spiked Maggie. Too bad.....I hoped to find something my boy loves.
Those yellows are almost blue, so they don't count. *grin*

Ann, are you gonna make me search thru your condos to see how you get Miralax into Mags?
Tux is having problems again with constipation. I know it's bothering him, as he sat carefully after trying to 'go'.
He refused the gravy with Mir in it, so I syringed a little in him, but I need a better way. He eats dry, I'm not surprised he is having a problem.
Sorry to take so much room in your condo, but not sorry enough to delete it.

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187; +3 216; +5 179; +8 219

Oh my, searching for a new food, what a challenge! Fuds and syringes will drive us all to drink. ;-)
Looks like a wobble bobble yellow blue cycle for Ms Mags.

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187; +3 216; +5 179; +8 219

Sending hugs to you both! I am totally disgusted iwht the food situation too....
there are so many brands to choose from....but one has to really study the ingredients too and not jus the carb percentages....sigh...good luck to you both...

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187; +3 216; +5 179; +8 219

Hi Barb & Checkers, yes I think the Surf'n'Turf did spike Maggie, but she is extra sensitive to spikes even with lc fuds, so Checkers may not be affected. Mannie eats a lot of it and no spike.
Awww.....I'm sorry Tux is having poo problems. I have a really good way of getting Miralax into Maggie. Would Tux eat some Gerber chicken & Gravy baby food, Stage 2, the teeny jar, as it's like pudding. After Maggie's shot and a small meal I give her a tsp or so of Gerber bf, just add a few drops of water as it's a pudding like consistency and mix in a small amount of Miralax, like 1/8 tsp or less. Maggie licks it off the spoon and doesn't notice the Miralax.
Another way that Melanie and Racci recommended is to mix a small amount of water and Miralax in a prescription bottle. I just fill the bottle to 1/4 or a little more water and shake thorroughly. Syringe this into Tux, small amounts and this way you'll know he's gettting it in his system. I'll post this over in your condo in case you miss it.
For Maggie's night food, I syringe some of the mixed Miralax and water over food. She always does a CPC of the overnight food.

Anne & Zener   Yes it's enough to drive a Bean to drink. :-D Lisa agrees. Let's all go out and party since the kitties did last night, now our turn.

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187; +3 216; +5 179; +8 219; PMPS 226

Woohoo!!! drinking09 I needed a ~O) ~O) ~O) fix, but adding a shot of Kahlua to the cup!

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187; +3 216; +5 179; +8 219; PMPS 226

Ann, thank you so much for the suggestions. I never thought of bf for Tux and he loooooooves chicken. :-D
I got a little Miralax in him with the syringe and gravy but if he's still not going tomorrow, I'll do the syringe thing with fresh chicken broth but just a little like Melanie does with Racci.
Thank you Ann.

Oops, I'm in your condo, talking about my civvie. Isn't that frowned upon?

Re: 9/30 Maggie AMPS 187; +3 216; +5 179; +8 219; PMPS 226

Hi Ann, good luck w/ the fuds search. i just picked up several flavors of Nutro Natural choice and Max Cat. They are a little higher than I like, but I'm going to try mixing them w/ really LC foods like the NV Raw an average out the numbers. You could try that w/ the Royal Canin.

One food i really want to try is the Hi-Tor Neo. It isn't Rx but is described as a replacement fo Rx food.

What are your limits for Phos for Maggie? I'm trying to keep Tess under 200mg/100kcal. That's a little under 1%. I'll cheat upwards a little if it is going to be an occasional food.

+3 142

Hi Barb, no problem at all; I just want Tux to have a good poo. Good idea with the broth & Miralax, too. The Gerber bf really works with Mags as she loves the bf.

Hi Ann, I just saw where we can order the Hi-Tor Neo from Petdirect.com w/out a prescription. It's low protein and low phosphorus, so it can be mixed with a higher protein fuds to balance. I was looking at the Neutro and Max Cat on the list. I have a small PetPeople store that may carry Neutro. I'm trying to stay under 1% Phosphorus for Maggie, as I'm not using any phoshorus binder for her. It was so hot here today that I didn't venture outside, just vegged here with Maggie. :-D

I think there's a store that may carry the Hi-Tor here and I don't think you need a prescription for it anywhere. Unfortunately they we closed on Sunday, if they do have it I'll get an extra can for you to try. I got th Nutro at Petco today. I don't like to order online until Tess tries it, othere wise miss picky wold stick me w/ cases of food!

No one in LL would ever frown over a poo discussion, well cat poo anyway. ;-)

Great! That's right, if we order from Petdirect.com, I think they just sell by the case. The little PetPeople store here may also carry it. I'll check tomorrow. Thanks on Neutro being at Petco. I found out they both don't carry all the same brands. No Merrick or Evo at PetsMart here. on the being stuck with cases of food.

Anne   on the pic! Hiarious! Have you ever seen such discussion on poo ever before on a mb?

I hope luttle Tux gets straightened out on his poo!

Good fuds discussion here today. I should finally have some time to look at the new lists tomorrow, and go read ingredient lists in person on Tuesday.

Mags is bringing it down quite nicely this evening!
