So dummy me went to refill Tiki's insulin on Sunday not realizing that Costco's pharmacy is CLOSED on Sundays and THEN to make it even worse, they were closed yesterday TOO for the holiday. I am such a bad kitty mom. So we are 4 shots behind. Thankfully, his numbers aren't too bad. I didn't even check his numbers the last 2 days to alleviate my guilt as there was nothing I could do for them anyway. Cop out, yeah I know! LOL Wondering if the new vial will be totally potent and his numbers will shoot super low super fast.

OH and when did Insulin get so expensive????? I had called around last time (April) and discovered that Costco gives an uninsured discount on prescriptions and went with them as this discount made them have the best price. Today my discount made the total $173.55, down from $180.00. I swear last time it was normally priced at $160.00 and I paid $130-ish. Did prices just shoot sky high or was I just totally hosed????

I've seen Lantus prices at around $240. It may also be a matter of where you live, though.

HI Tonya - you've probably heard about this already, but I just recently switched to the pens. I was able to get that coupon from the Lantus website and Target agreed to sell me one pen at a time. So, I am able to spend $25 per pen for 6 prescriptions or you can get 6 pens at one time and spend $150. It's easier for me to buy one at a time. Then the pens are $66 each, which is still easier for me to buy than a bunch at one time. I was so happy after spending $175.00 on a vial.

Good luck with all that! I feel your wallet pain! ;-)

Ive been hesitant to get the pens as most places wont sell you just one (tho I have heard that Target sells one at a time. Not sure if that is the case here in my area tho). My fear is to have to buy several pens and then he goes OTJ and I am stuck with unneeded insulin. I guess I am jinxing myself with these thoughts as last time he was OTJ in a few months but now it seems he might be insulin dependent for the long haul. His numbers just wont budge below 3 units. I will have to pursue this option next time as the price on this one surprised the heck out of me. At least it's not a monthly burden! That would be horrible!

PS - I also suspect my dog might have a UTI. When it raines it pours. Thank heaven for savings and credit cards.

Dara - OMG....Bob is ADORABLE!!!! Hector's surprised look is hilarious! What a hoot he is. I'm in love with these guys!!!!
