Feeding schedule different today: Shnookie was howling for food at 530am so I had to get up and feed everyone. Gave Muffin a snack (was 4 hrs before ambg). Got up early today (730am) and Muffin has been hounding me for food all morning. Put out Wellness for her at 730 - she only licked the fortiflora off. 8am gave her a snack, 830 gave her more, and a little more at 9am. She continued to nag me for more, but made her wait til after ambg. I don't know what this will mean for her numbers today, and I'll be gone for the rest of the morning. Will test when I get home. She's feeling very feisty today - knocking everything over on the desk in her attempts to make the silly bean understand that she's hungry!

Ok all that was typed before I actually did the ambg test. 71?!! Is this a good feeding schedule then? This would be a reduction number tho, is that bad for her to get to all by herself? Can someone explain this to me?

Have to run now, but will be back in 3-4 hrs.

You know I can't explain anything, but I can say woohoo! Good job. That girl keeps you on your toes, that's for sure.

HAPPY DAY 4 MUFFIN!!

She is at 71 without insulin!! That is GREAT!. Some non FD kitties run very low in their normal BGs.
So we have a stand by and do nothing attitude when they are not on insulin anymore. It's a totally different thing to see those low numbers. No longer should it be a panic that sets it. It is just your Muffin without insulin...do nothing except to jump up and down for that beautiful GREEN! :mrgreen:

I am confused as to what the feeding was this morning...you fed her 4 hours before you took the AMBG, right? See how her number was after her sputtering pancreas got food ...Raja needed 4 hours to get a good number too. That might be what you have to do with Muffin...feed her 4 hours before you do the AMBG/PMBG.
You did great this morning...whatever you did with the food, she brought her number into green for you. Very pretty! I am so happy for you!

You could try to feed her at +8 today too and see if her PMBG is lower then too...if you are around.

Raja went right up until her 13th day on her first OTJ trial. Yep, she was an OTJ failure at first. Her numbers were sneaking up into the blues and everyone else on their trials were at like 53 :sad:
Jill suggested she needed a little more time on the .1u so she went back for uh..I think 11 days on the .1u. She started the 2nd OTJ trial and did very well. I did change her feeding schedule after the first trial. She got a snack at +9 and then I tested her BGs....it seemed that she got a lower reading at +4 so that's the way I fed her. I would make sure she had nothing to eat 4 hours before her AMBG/PMBG.
If they aren't ready yet, there is no point in trying to push it. A little more time on insulin is what will secure a lasting OTJ. At least, that's what happened with Raja....Muffin is doing better than Raja did.

But, with you feeding like this now making sure she doesn't get anything for 4 hours before you test her, she is looking so good in her greens! I wish you well ..greens are great!!

Thanks Pat - I'll feed at +8 and see what happens tonight. AND I will toss all my worry out the window and just rejoice in the greenness of it all! flip_cat

Just stopping in for a visit - good luck on the OTJ trial - 71 is fantastic! Hope she can stay right there!
