YESTERDAY'S CONDO:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=124602
YESTERDAY'S NUMBERS:
AMPS 120 +2 237 +3 216 +4 169 +5 141 +7111 +9 103
PMPS 166 +2 153 13 134 +4 119 ++5.5 84 +6.5 73 +7 64

Another night of not much sleep. I awoke to Max trying unsuccessfully trying to vomit up a hairball. Then the alarm went off. I was quite surprised to see the BG number. I was a little worried because of Max gagging. He did eat the baby food but when I checked he had spit out his gel cap. I reinserted it into his mouth and got more baby food. I was a little worried he wouldn't eat it because of the gagging but he did. So he got his insulin. It's been about 15 minutes since he ate and no more attempting to throw up. He ate a little trader joes 9% as well. I was worried about shooting low if he wasn't going to be feeling well. I hope there are no more vomiting attempts.

I haven't cancelled my 9:00 spin class yet but I know I will.

Vines and prayers go out to all kitties and beans in need. I hope JD gets help from his IM appointment, Gracie gets a good vet report, Sasha does well with chemo next week, Cinco does well with the upcoming, surgery, and Neko is 100% today.

Re: 8/3 MAX AMPS 66

Hi guys .. well those are some nice looking numbers for sure! And what a nice start to the day too .. Fingers crossed no more gagging for max .. have a great day guys!

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66+1/129

Cancelled my bike which means He is bouncing most likely. It's a conspiracy by Max to keep my weight on that I've gained since he became diabetic. I'm scared to weigh him. I can still get to a 12:00 today if he is bouncing so I will get the last laugh there.

I don't know why all this gagging is going on now. I know hairballs are not normal. If it persists I will start giving him squash again. I haven't in quite a while as he can't afford any unnecessary calories.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66+1/129

I hope he's ok. Lovely AMPS and could job shooting it. I know he can get a pretty good food spike so let's hope it's that and not a bounce.

I think you need to get some sleep some time!

Thanks for thinking of Gracie. Yesterday was just too crazy and we spent three hours at the vet. They were running way behind because of the long holiday. Her liver appears totally normal now :-D :-D :-D but bile duct still dilated although the gallbladder is small which indicates there is no obstruction in the bile duct. Another month of clavamox and recheck.

Hope your day goes well.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66+1/129+2/140

I'm glad there Gracie doesn't have anything new to worry about but sorry she needs another month of clavamox. It doesn't seem to bother her though gi wise which is a good thing. I was just a little worried when you didn't post the results.

I'm hoping one of these times shoot low to stay low will apply to Mr. Max. At least he only went up a little more at +2 but I was hoping he would go down a little. I'll see what happens at +3 and it just might tell us if this is a bounce.

I do have a question. He didn't drop under mid 60's last night so I went to bed with him being at +66ish. I gave him a little food first which he did eat right away. It was already +7.5. Was that a safe enough move on my part since he hasn't dropped after that in the past? Or should I have stayed up longer"

Thanks.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66+1/129+2/140

Paws crossed for gentle blue surfs today so you can get a bike ride in and maybe a nap - I know, you don't do those well.

Good job shooting a 60's cat that's gagging. I did the same thing last week and I know it takes nerves. Actually it's easier with Lev cause you have several hours to get them up before onset. Any chance with these nicer numbers lately he's grooming more?

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66+1/129+2/140

He might be grooming more but he always has. I'll need to pay closer attention. I've read though that even if they groom a lot it isn't normal to vomit period, whether food or fur. It's been 4 months since his last vet visit , labs and BP check plus I do want to know about possible arthritis so I will make a vet appointment soon. I want to see what happens a little longer first though as vet visits can trigger panc attacks. It didn't happen when we were going often when he was diagnosed but since it's been 4 months it might happen again.

On a positive note he just ate a little more and meowed to announce it to me. He also is urinating less which must be due to the better numbers. He also just came in for attention which also is a good sign.

I was a little scared to shoot with the gagging. Okay, a lot scared. That is why I gave him only baby food at first and waited to make sure he ate it. I also thought it would be easiest on his system. Had he not eaten that I think I would have stalled. Thanks Wendy and Marje.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66+1/129+2/140+3/156

Steady climb. I wonder if this will go on all day? Leveling off.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66+1/129+2/140+3/156+4/160+5/159

Off to the gym. Thank you Max. Please behave while I am gone.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66+1/129+2/140+3/156+4/160+5/159

I think Max feels guilty about all the exercise classes you have had to skip lately. He's just letting you go to some today, then he'll get right back down to business. Right, Max? ;-)

Sounds like he is feeling better. That's always reassuring. My long-haired cat has hairballs every few weeks, but not as often as she used to. We try to brush her more, but I think we don't do it enough. The other kitties don't generally have them, which is surprising with Cinco, as he is a fur growing machine. He blankets everything around him in creamy orange fur.

You were very brave to shoot that 66. I don't know if I could have done it. Looks like it was the right move.

I'm glad you were able to get out today. Very important for your own well-being to do things for YOU.

I hope your DM is doing a little better. Sending vines and prayers for her.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66+1/129+2/140+3/156+4/160+5/159

Yikes, what a nerve-wracking morning, between the AMPS, the gagging, the gelcap. I'm glad Max leveled it off. Maybe something just tickled his throat for a bit....fingers and paws crossed that the gagging was an isolated incident. I hope you enjoyed your spin class! (The advantage of working out at home is being still being able to do it, even when the kitties are "misbehaving". I've always wanted to take a spin class, but know myself well enough that there are too many kitty demands to try and pull it off with any consistency.)

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66+1/129+2/140+3/156+4/160+5/159+7.75/132

Tricia, I think healthy cats don't throw up furballs. I'm glad he's surfing blue and hopefully that will continue all day. All night would be fine as well. I think it's likely he will bounce but we shall see. The spin classes keep me sane. When someone else is in charge I don't think about all the stuff going on around here. Yesterday I did get away to take a pilates class but it was an effort to do it. I should have gone a little earlier and done some cardio but I didn't. Equinox is just 5 blocks away so I can leave here and make a class if I have 15 minutes, even 10 if it's not a popular class and I don't need to reserve a bike or worry that someone will take mine if I'm not there right on time.

Amy, it was a crazy start to the day. I was jolted awake first with Max and then the 66 was a shock. If he hadn't kept the baby food down I would have stalled. I think every time I brush him it loosens more fur.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66+1/129+2/140+3/156+4/160+5/159+7.75/132+9

Sorry about the gagging this morning. I hope Max is over that. At least you got to go to your class today. Hopefully Max will get back some safe greens for you soon. My cats have always thrown up hairballs. It is worse in the spring when they shed their winter coats.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66+1/129+2/140+3/156+4/160+5/159+7.75/132+9

What a nice flat day for Max! I hope he has a good night too. Billie used to have hairballs pretty often until she stopped eating dry food. I don't know if it was the lack of moisture or some ingredient that upset her stomach...or maybe just the overall bad quality of dry food. I hope it was a one time thing for Max.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66 +7.75/132+9/148 PMPS 168

Hi Carla. It's pretty hot in So. Cal. all the time and I think Max is always shedding. Max used to get hairballs more often and I fixed that with a combo of baby food squash or pumpkin and Vet's Best Hairball Remedy. The VB doesn't list any sugar as an ingredient but it was suggested I stop using it. I did give him one today and might try it for a little while. He spit up some fur a few days ago as well, Deanna. Thanks for visiting.

Max surfed blue all day but kept inching up. I guess we will find out tonight if this is a bounce or not.He slept the day away. He ate his pre-shot food.

I forgot to mention that I got a surprise message on my cell from my vet. I say surprise because I sent several ss without calls. The last one of August 28th got his attention because he said that he thought Max's +6 might be too low and that I should send another ss in x number of days. I didn't hear the phone and I'm glad because I hope Max will earn another reduction before I call him back or send another ss. He actually said his 6 hour instead of nadir. I suppose most of his clients don't know? I'm sure he would have said to take a bigger reduction than I took. He hasn't even seen the last few crazy days.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66 +7.75/132+9/148 PMPS 168+1 213

Bounce continues or food spike? I have no idea.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66 +7.75/132+9/148 PMPS 168+1 213

Most of your vet's clients probably don't know...and heck, maybe he doesn't know, either...that the nadir is a moving target. At least he is expressing concern, though, even if it IS a big mis-guided!

Hopefully the +1 is a fuds spike, but at the same time, hopefully you can have a calm evening, too!

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66 +7.75/132+9/148 PMPS 168+1 213

Nice cruise in blue today, Max. Hopefully it's just a flat blue bounce and he turns it back around (gently) tonight. Just think...a bounce in blues compared to a bounce in pink or reds a couple months ago. :-D Hopefully the hairball situation is just temporary. Interesting with your vet expressing concern about Max's numbers. It will be interesting what he has to say after the last few rather crazy days.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66 +7.75/132+9/148 PMPS 168+1 213

Max gets such a food spike, it's hard to tell what he might be planning to do with that +1. :?

You know, my cats used to vomit/have hairballs quite regularly. Since we switch to canned food, it is extremely rare that they'll vomit (e.g., once in three months). Jersey will vomit up a hairball every time she eats dehydrated foods (e.g., Primal, too many Orijen treats). It's the absolute strangest thing. I've also been using the Furminator to cut down on all of the shedding, but I'm like you - the more I brush, the more fur there seems to be.

Interesting on the vet's terminology. I'm guessing very few of his FD clients test at home or do as much research as you've done on FD. Before I found this site, I would have had no idea what a "nadir" was.

I hope you can get lots of good rest tonight, Elise, before you wear yourself completely out. Come on, Max, cooperate a bit please.......

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66 +7.75/132+9/148 PMPS 168+1 213+2/169+3.5

Thanks, Shelly. Looks like there is not a bounce.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66 +7.75/132+9/148 PMPS 168+1 213+2/169+3.5

Max seems to be going somewhere in a hurry. Maybe he's bringing the ropes to haul Cinco out of the deep end? I'm sure you'd be fine if he stayed right there for a while.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66 +9/148 PMPS 168+1 213+2/169+3.5 108+5/60

Tricia, I would have been happy for Max to stay where he was but green is fine. Just not any lower PLEASE.

Hey Max! The s'mores are almost ready! Cinco and China are going to be roasting their marshmallows soon, so you'd better hurry and come join them! ~ China

He really, really wants to join you.He definitely could use the carbs right now. I'll tell him you won't wait much longer.

I just gave him a little more 9% but he didn't eat it so I put some fd chicken on it. Now he's eating and hopefully not just the fd.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66 +9/148 PMPS 168+2/169+3.5 108+5/60+6/67

Wow, Max. You're giving the bean another ride. How 'bout finding a safe place to hang out for the rest of the night?

And any coffee drinkers hanging out with the s'mores...here's a little labeling advice pixed right off the coffee I just brewed for the kitties:

Marilyn (who has the coffee dripping) and Polly (who can't figure out where she wants to go)

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66 +9/148 PMPS 168+2/169+3.5 108+5/60+6/67

Marilyn, I love that picture. I intend to show it to Mr. Max although he doesn't think he is being mean at all.

Re: 9/3 MAX AMPS 66 +9/148 PMPS 168+2/169+3.5 108+5/60+6/67

Well looks like Cinco managed to drag Max ashore, but he had to go way inland to do it. Hopefully you can go to bed now, Elise. That's where I'm headed! I-) I-) I-)
