A little flat, dark pancake poo in LB this AM  . But runny nose, squinty eye & sneezes are gone  Lanky is doing OK but the BGs still pink on 3u of Levemir even with an R booster.

Hope you everyone has a good Saturday, chores & all.

He may still be fighting the last effects of the infection, only at this point (thanks to the meds getting things under control), his immune system is strong enough to do the rest.

We'll keep our paws and fingers crossed that those numbers come down in the next few days! In the meantime, I'm glad he's feeling better....sniffles are the worst!

Dark poop - is that clue to anything? So glad to hear the other symptoms are gone. I'm so happy for you. Henry goes to the vet on Tuesday to get xrays to find out whats wrong with his back end. Wish us luck. I'm syringe feeding him softened kibble with the lysine but I've just started this so no improvement yet. Hefner who's been eating it in his soft food is much better also. The higher dose of lysine is impressive.

I am in no way throwing a panic out there, and really just want to clarify how "dark" the poop is. Dark (looks tarry black) poop can be a sign of bleeding in the upper GI - red generally signifies lower. I would just watch his next few poos as this likely isn't happening.

If there's an upper GI bleed, you would notice a significant change in his energy level (fatigue), he could throw up blood, his poos would continue to be "colored" and you may see generalized swelling in his belly.

I think I've read in here a few times that people give their cats Pepcid? Which ever Antacid it is...it wouldn't hurt a bit and may be something to consider if you have any concerns.

If you see anything that remotely concerns you...let me know if I can help. As I mentioned, a GI bleed is not likely, but you should know it is serious.

susan, did you have a 1 year follow-up with tests or anything related to CSU? i was just wondering how his growth hormone was now after a year. we've decided to do the SRT with punkin as soon as we can get it all scheduled, barring anything that prevents it.

fortiflora has worked wonders on punkin in the past. poor lanky - i'm sorry he doesn't feel good.

Re: 9/3 Lanky AMPS 346

I wouldn't use fortiflora on a cat with issues. It's a personal choice but I'd pick an alternative pro-biotic.
