We've hit a pink this morning with his AMPS 345. Home today, so I'll be able to spot check. Although going to the vet with send him back into the reds.

It's +7 now and we just got back from the vet. She gave him an antibiotic shot because he scratched the heck out of his neck with his allergies - the patch was 3x1 1/2" that looked like it could be infected. She explained that she can't give him his allergy shot because it is a steroid and that would send him BG super high. She also took a urine sample to see if he has a UTI. His teeth are in bad shape too. I gave her the food label from the Fancy Feast Kitten Turkey that we've been feeding him and she checked with the diabetes internist and it does have a high fat content which could be messing with his p'titis. She gave us two cans of Hills M/D and two cans of Purena Dietetic to try. I've read on other posts that these's aren't that great and have a lot of carbs...hmm. I'll probably skip these and look at Binky's food list for an alternative. Anyway, just wanted to give an update. She also confirmed that it was a good idea to start him over - made DH feel better! He was not on board with starting over at all. I explained to him that everyone on this board is living through this just like we are and our vet is not. He's mellowed out now that she told me that I did the right thing. And that is because of all the wonderful advice I recieved from you all. So thank you!!! :-D
Nice to see some pinks too!

Well the #'s are going the right way, be patient, it takes time to settle in.

Definately check out Janet & Binky's chart, it has alot of options for you.

It sounds like your Vet is on board and that will make everything much easier for you, glad DH is coming around too.

That must feel really good to get confirmation from the vet, yay! And keep that DH in line ;-) lol

Do you know for sure he has p'titis, or was that just something the vet threw out as a possibility? I vaguely remember maybe your vet speculating about that? I'm not sure how it is diagnosed. If you are sure, I think there are quite a few kitties around who have that (I think it's a common FD complication?) so hopefully you can get some good tips on dealing with it.

We don't know if it's p'titis yet. The vet just threw that out as a possibility, especially if we can't find his number with this "re-do." I would have had him tested when we went in, but he needs to fast for 8-10 hours prior. I'll have to change his schedule (when/if we need to test) since I usually feed and give him his shot by 5:30 a.m. and I think the earliest I can get him in would be 7:30 a.m.
