Darn, I was hoping to hear that it was getting better. You must be exhausted and so frustrated with not really being able to help Kasha resolve her sinus issue. Hope you hear something from the Vet today. And I hope Kasha begins to feel a little better today as well. You are one tough cookie Krys. Hang in there......We are all thinking about ya.

When I look at Kasha's photo here when you post.....I my heart just melts. Kasha is so beautiful and so relaxed in the photo..What a sweetheart..Its almost therapeutic just gazing at the photograph of her. She's quite a gal. And she has a very persistent Momma bean as well.

Hi Krys, I hope that Kasha's symptoms will get better today. Poor kitty needs a break, and so do you. Perhaps you'll get some new approaches from the vets. Anyway, hang in there. Lots of no-more-congestion vines being sent to Kasha today.

Heard from the vet - we basically have no options. She talked to the IM vet and her suggestions were a CAT scan, scoping and maybe a flush. That would cost over $2000. That is simply not an option. I called to see if they can get me in for just the scoping and whatever isn't $2000. They are booked up next week - the IM vet I saw before is off after Wednesday for 10 days. I left a somewhat desperate voicemail for the IM vets to try to get in next week - my vet will back me up that this is a potentially life-threatening issue since she's not eating and she's an elderly diabetic cat. I'm waiting to hear back - hopefully tomorrow. If they can't get me in next week, I have no idea what we're going to do. The following week I am not available because of work issues. Really - they will not look kindly if I miss work that week - it will not be acceptable.

The concern is that there is a soft tissue tumor or something that didn't show up on x-rays. I asked about culturing the nasal secretions and we can do that, but she'd have to be off antibiotics for at least a week - I'm afraid of what might happen if we are off a/bs.

Things are not looking good.

((((Krys)))) I wish I had something useful to contribute, but I don't. I hope the vets will understand the urgency and help you figure out a practical solution.

Sending snowflakes and vines to Kasha.

I pray that the IM vets will work with you - and sense the urgency. I am sorry that this is just so difficult for you, and for Kasha. I wish you and Kasha the best - sending many healing vines and positive thoughts. (((HUGS)))

Krys --

Can't your vet call someone at OSU? At least they may be able to make some informed suggestions.

Sienne,

I don't see the point of calling someone at OSU. We just got an informed suggestion from the IM vet - these vets at this facility are some of the best in the state - trained at OSU. And, more importantly - what she said makes perfect sense. Of course they are going to want to do a scan to see what else might be going on in Kasha's head. You can hear the congestion and what else might be causing it? And since I can't afford the CAT scan, we are limited to other options - the only one I can see is scoping - which also makes perfect sense and my vet does not have a small enuf scope. Of course, there is some sort of sinus flushing - but not sure if they can do that without opening up Kasha's head/sinuses surgically. That's probably not an option due to the issues with her age and diabetes - she won't heal as easily as a cat without those considerations.

I argue with my doctors about nearly everything - and if this were me - if I were in Kasha's position, even I wouldn't argue these points.

Krys,
Hugs and prayers for you and sweet Kasha. I hope the IM Vets can see Kasha next week and offer some options to make her comfortable.

Krys, I'm sorry Kasha isn't feeling better. It sounds like you're in touch with some good vets. I hope they can find a simpler way to get her (and you) some relief.
