Congrats on day 9! I think that 53 is awesome! Some cats do stay in that range. Good luck Cairo!

Looking great. Since Cairo is off the juice low numbers are a good thing. Actually anything in the green range is purrfect! Yea for day 9 of  without juice.

53 is PurrFect. One of our kitties at the falls had a 37 the other morning. It's fine...no need to worry :-D Although they normally come down three hours after you feed ;-) :-D also not anything to worry about. She's in fantastic numbers.

I read the condo from yesterday. If your vet is great but doesn't know much about FD, than she should be open to learning. I agree you should show her Cairos SS, tell her about the TR protocol (take her a copy), and the board. She should be open to learning something new. While I know my awesome vet might not put a kitty on the TR protocol simply because a vet does not have the time to be there 24/7 for someone, she would send them to us.

Cairo is starting and ending the day with numbers in the 50's. She seems playful, happy (purring), and her usual up-to-mischief-bully self! Thanks to all who provided vet advice and suggestions, and of course, our cheerleaders! I feel much better about talking to the vet and sharing the things that I've learned about FD. I think she'll be pleased with Cairo's progress!

Woo hoo! Those are fantastic numbers for Day 9!

BTW - I'm the one Marje mentioned whose kitty tested at 37 the other day. It actually seems like Jersey's numbers were a bit higher during her OTJ trial, and then they came down even a bit further after the trial was over. She generally ranges in the 30s and 40s these days.

It's hard not to panic a bit when you see Cairo in the low 50s, isn't it? It was for me with Jersey. It had been drilled into my head for so long that I needed to break out the high-carb stuff under 50, and it was hard to get used to not doing that once we were off of insulin. ohmygod_smile

Oh Wow! Thanks for the info Shelly. I've noticed that Cairo seems a bit lower each day. I like seeing the green numbers, but like you, I was really concerned because when she was ON insulin and went into the low numbers (like into the 30's & 40's) I had to work round the clock to get her back up into the 60's. From what I understand, without insulin, lower is better. Let's keep our babes OTJ!
