I was able to get a good curve overnight. I anticipate the +12/AMPS to be around 300 so I'm figuring it will be ok to dose .25? I will be home all day and plan to do a +2, +4 & +6 at a minimum.

Re: 9/3 Buster - curve completed - dose advise needed

Do you want to try the 0.25, or try for a slightly skinny 0.25 BID?
Whatever you decide, happy testing today. Hopefully, we can get him on a dose that can be shot 12/12.

Re: 9/3 Buster - curve completed - dose advise needed

Okay, since it's difficult to measure, especially consistantly, I would get out an old (or new) syringe, and make an identical example syringe that you can compare to, when you measure your next dose. Good luck.

Re: 9/3 Buster - curve completed - dose advise needed

Well poo - either I got a fur shot or my skinny was too skinny. +2 = 429  Poor kitty. The curve was going so well, too.

Re: 9/3 Buster - curve completed - dose advise needed

Hi, Tara, I wouldn't assume the most recent shot caused or failed to prevent that 429. I would imagine he's bouncing up because his body isn't used to those Blues he got last night.

A fair number of cats have different types of curves in the day than in the night. We worry that a particular cat might go lower at night than in the day, and that's a reason for testing at least once every night. I know, it's hard to do!

(I'm going to be off the board for a while except for posting for my cat. Good luck. You are doing great! I am soooo glad you started home testing when you did!!!! Your cat is doing great!)

Re: 9/3 Buster - curve completed - dose advise needed

He might be just bouncing from that almost 200 point drop the first two hours after PMPS last night.

Did you make an example syringe, so you can measure the same dose for tonight? Don't worry, he'll come down.

Can you change your Subject Line in your first post from 9/3 Buster - curve completed - dose advise needed to something more like 9/3 Buster AMPS 337, +2 429 - trying BID today, and can you add an "S" to your 0.25 in your units column of your spreadsheet to signify the skinny on the dose this morning?

Maybe, he just went up a bit from some food he ate. Or, maybe it's a bounce. Patience.

Re: 9/3 Buster AMPS 337, +2 429 - trying BID today

There's hope? I will check again in a bit...I was fairly certain I got a good shot in. *fingers crossed*

I practiced a bunch this afternoon with a different syringe. I am fairly confident I didn't give him any juice this morning - that tiny sliver is very inconsistent, even though I was putting the plunger in the same place. Sometimes a lil bit would come out and sometimes not. Prolly an air bubble sneaks in?

I'm guessing there are some syringes that are better than others? I have the generic ones from the pharmacy. I will search around to see if I can find a discussion on types of syringes....

Alrighty! I just found the post from Sheila & Beau & Jeddie (GA) about the drop method! I am soooooo on to that! Practicing and practicing - feel a ton better about having more control over the microdosing. Seems a shame to lose a few drops of insulin, but knowing what you're shooting makes it all ok. :-D
