Good Caturday morning,

Hope every had a good night/good sleep! Shasta and I got a few little naps this morning in between poke times. Goodness, I love snuggle time with her. In fact, I'm getting luvs from my girl, which stinks right now because I need to get up and get a +4 poke. NO....I just want to sit here and keep gettin' luvs!!!!! Ok, she shifted and I took the opportunity to get up and get a +4 poke (75). She was playful and purry this morning; pee & poop in the LB; and preening (a good bit in the anal area...wonder if she's having more anal sac issues.)

Ok, I'm going to do a little shopping on Amazon. See you all in a bit.

Ok, it's official...Shasta will no longer be receiving any more PureBite treats, unless they are shredded and put on top of her food. But she will not get any more big chunks, small chunks, or even medium chunks. I gave her a few medium/large chunks at +8 and she threw up at +9. Heaving, tongue hanging out, a little saliva, liquid contents, fur, and mostly whole chunks of PureBite treats. My poor girl! :sad:

Question: Those of you who give your kitties vaseline for fur ball treatment, how much do you give and how often do you give it? Thanks!

I use butter if they need it. I am not a fan of giving my kitties vaseline. If one of them is having hairball issues, I give them a tsp of butter every day until it's better. I also use a warm, wet cloth to go over their fur after brushing so it pulls the loose hairs out.

I have to pulverize the treats for Gracie so she doesn't choke on them.

Glad to see Shasta in green today!!

Not much, a tiny smear on their noses about once a week (both cats are long hairs). If I was going to use it as a lip salve...about that much (to give an idea of how much). I still deal with the occasional hair ball if they aren't letting me brush them enough.

I wonder where that fine line is between accidentally over-carbing my cat and just enough food to keep her surfing. hmmm....

The PMPS (I'm thinking) is due to our anal sacs expression. +1 - starting to come down to a normal range. +2 - I fed a small amount of her mid-carb, hoping that she'd drop into the upper 100's (a normal-type of drop for her!)...but NOOOOO...she waits until +3 to show her drop! So, I'll get a +3.5 to make sure she's safe and keep my fingers crossed that she surfs these greens.

Thanks Rhiannon & Michelle! She seems to be doing a tiny bit of surfing in the mid-50's now! :mrgreen: Still very distrusting of me right now and I'm sure she's sore after our wrestling session tonight while expressing her anal sacs. :YMSIGH: But she's napping on the back of the couch over my shoulder. Hope you all had a great Caturday. I'm trying to make it to a few more condos before I get distracted with poking my cat, brushing my teeth and eventually getting to bed. :razz:

I'm sure you still have purebites in the cupboard.
I think I have something like 50 bags of the shrimp variety. Shadow really likes it when I re-hydrate them. I just sit them in a few drops of
water ( they are tiny) and they soak up the water and are squishy again. I haven't tried it with the turkey. She has no interest in the chicken
flavor. I just give little tiny chunks because , yeah, they do seem pretty dry ...it would be easy to spit them up.
so maybe if you got them wet they wouldn't cause problems.

I would get another test at +5. Numbers can wobble around a bit especially after such a big drop. Did you give LC or something higher in carbs?

Rhiannon, I'll have to see if re-hydrating them will be as appealing to her. I do shred them (w/ my fingernail) and turn them into dust and sprinkle them on her food sometimes, and she loves that! But I'll have to try a few drops of water and see if she actually chews them!!!!! :roll:

Sienne, I did get a +5 (61) and will get a +5.5, even though she's really irritated at my poking her! :shock: Oh, and I gave her some FF Chopped Grill (4%) and Beef/Chicken (5%). If she finished it, I'd get her more. I was afraid to give her mid-carbs because I always give too much and she sky rockets, so I tried the 4/5% stuff in reasonable forkfuls (~.25oz) and she's slowly coming up and doing a bit of surfing. Normally, by now, she'd be in the blues and headed for yellows, but I think because I didn't give as much 12% at her +1, she's able to surf a bit more (but she did drop a bit lower).

Really, I'm pretty sure I just tried to justify everything, and the reality is ... she's a cat that is kind of pissy with me right now (but doing well)! :roll: :lol:

Liz, you can say that again! the whole thing...from the yowza to the butt thing! Together we are one hot mess! :lol:

What an amazing day you had!!!! WOW! Moonie eats chopped grill for every meal with ff chicken feast her 2 favs..You are doing soooooo great here! You will find the right combo, we all do, it's the cats that change things cat(2)_steam :lol: :lol: :lol: If only they'd comply :lol:
