amps 134 shot .1u

Good Morning LL! Really enjoyed Karre's Caturday Condo - many thanks to Jane for all her effort each week. Congrats to Max and Dale on their new OTJ status!! So excited for them!

Amps 134 Shot .1u Muffin went out this morning for a grass appetizer before she ate her breffis. She's been wanting to so this every morning and every evening the past several days. But she comes right back in and eats afterward, with no pukus, so the grass must be enough to take care of whatever stomach upset she's having. She was reluctant to eat last night at pmps, but by +2 she was hard at it! Today she's once again eating like a horse. I have a call into the vet to see if the Dexamethasone injection should still be affecting (effecting? I never know which one is right  ) her BG still. I was under the impression it would be out of her system in 24 hrs, and this is day 4. I'm happy with where the .1u is taking her down to, but the ps numbers are troubling. If it's not due to the injection, then I want to know where we go from here. I'd like to run another specfPL before starting a course of steroids, to see if it's warranted, but I'm also thinking if she's going to run this high and need insulin anyway, then it's defeating the purpose of my wanting the injection in the first place. So I'll let you know what he recommends. Any input from you would also be valued.

I have the DGD's today, while DD works, so Muffin is anxious to get out of here and head to the parties!

Re: 9/29 Muffin amps 134

Morning Anne ~O) ~O) ~O)

Grass appetizers! It is nice when they dot hat and then don't have the pukus. Mannie is like that. My Elsa: no way. grass = auto pukus, every time. Nice too on the appy Always worrisome when they won't eat.

Wish I could help you with the meds, and the dosing. Meds are so out of my league. The cycles look great - wonderful numbers, and just look like a normal Lantus cycle to me - then again 'm no dosing expert that's for sure. Wishing you luck with that, and the vet consult.

Have a great day today! Mannie says to tell Muffin eh is on his way... those kitties! Such a social life. :-D

Re: 9/29 Muffin amps 134

Hi Anne, she seems to be liking the grass, and great with no pukus. It's always good hearing when they have a good appy. Hope you get some answers from the Vet today. Have a nice day you two.

Re: 9/29 Muffin amps 134 +3 51 +5.5 66

+3 51 +5.5 66 She's been under the bed all day - I've been using turkey to lure her out for tests and meds. Gave Denamarin at +5.5. No word from the vet yet, but Saturdays are crazy there, so I don't really expect to hear until around 5pm when they close. I'm also pleased to report that the skunk smell is finally beginning to fade from the top of Oscar's head :-D

Michelle - She hasn't been eating a large amt. She doesn't really want to go all the way to the lawn, so she's just getting a few bites of the mostly dead weeds along the fence. Maybe that's why no pukus. Thanks for the good wishes.

Ann - I'm really pleased that she eats right after she comes in from eating the grass - doesn't seem like her tummy is very upset. Thanks for the good wishes.

Jane - You're welcome! And thank you for the sparklies!

Re: 9/29 Muffin amps 134 +3 51 +5.5 66

I'm glad she's coming down again. The dexamethazone should be out of her system so it's a good idea to talk to your vet. She just may need the .1u for a while to bring those PS numbers down. They can be stubborn!

"Affect" is a verb; "effect" is a noun.

I'd also ask the vet about doing the spec fPL again...I'm not sure when the best time to repeat it is.

Loverly numbers for Miss Muffin!

Re: 9/29 Muffin pmps 122

Pmps 122 Vet called me back this afternoon, and I relayed Muffin's numbers since the injection. He agrees with Marje ( ;-) ) and says it should not be "affecting" (thank you Marje and Jane) her BG anymore. He wants to wait it out another week with just the denamarin, and then a week from Monday he'll rerun the specfPL. What I really wanted to hear was rerun it this Monday, but...I'm going to trust him on this. I need to put on my big girl patience pants and just wait it out. After all, Muffin is staying in safe numbers, they're just not the Muffin numbers I'm used to. And she is demonstrating a typical Lantus curve, I've just never known her to be "typical."
