Fred must have known I had posted again, for he rather conveniently demonstrated his ability to continue to drop even after high and regular carb food.

I had debated whether to give him HC or MC at +6, and ultimately did go with the HC, as I could just tell he was tanking. 45 min later, he's dropped another 18 points, and a half-hour after that, depending on which wonky meter reading you believe, he was either hypo, dropped another 13, or dropped 2. (I don't know what's going on with my AT)

Bottom line is, even when stuffed with food, some of it HC, he just keeps falling. It's what makes it SO scary to me to fly too close to the sun with his numbers. (especially at 4 am!)

Now we have the nice bounce today...mmmmm, yay.

Was Fred showing any hypo symptoms at that possible 66? That is barely into the low numbers range. I'm glad you retested, cause that 66 isn't in line with the other two numbers you got so looks like a bad test. So I would have stayed with LC. Do you have a back up meter? Always a good idea just in case. Or control solution for your meter?

Yes, I'm pretty certain it was a bad test as well. He can plunge, but not that much at that hour. That was the last test I was able to get. Given his low can sometimes be around +9, I'm not quite sure how low he ultimately went. I felt secure, though, that he would keep out of hypo. My guess is he did end up in the green somewhere, as yesterday was the first day in some time he didn't at least get into yellow. For Fred, the more persistent/higher the bounce, the lower the number he'd hit.

Just very hungry, which does happen in numbers like that.

So I would have stayed with LC.
I stayed with LC after the initial high carb. My fingers were itching to give more, but I resisted! But do you mean you would have stayed LC all around? I don't think I could have done that, given where we were in the cycle. I also ask myself, "What would do if this were 3PM, when I'm awake and alert and the vet is open, and not 3AM? And my answer would be I'd likely have given him MC, and not high. But since I couldn't test further than when I did, I felt it the safer move.

I have a Freestyle Lite for backup, and control for both. I did just perform test the control on the AT, but I'll do so again. I've gotten some wildly off (50% or more) readings over the last couple of days.
