Morning ~O) ~O) hope Michelle has some strong brewing! Wow on the visits I missed after falling asleep early! Dale, Michelle, Roni, Tamara , Leslie & Jasper, and Deborah & Shasta, thanks so much for the good Vetty vines for today's U/S and IM visit, and also your good thoughts and cheers on Maggie's prezzies! I need to fast Mags after her shot and meal. I tried to skinny her dose today after seeing her greens yesterday, as I don't want to worry. She wants to eat with the greens and won't understand why I won't feed her. Her appt. is at 9 am but need to arrive early to complete paperwork. She had such a good day yesterday after her poo deliverance. Mags seems to be feeling well again today. She was quite vocal about an hour before the alarm went off, so that's good news as it means she's back to her old self. I'll check back later this afternoon.

I think this is a food spike partly! I think we'lll go back to Beechnut chicken & broth bf as a treat instead of the Gerber chicken & gravy bf! The Gerber bf tastes better but raises Maggie's bg I've noticed. I use the bf to sneak in some Miralax, sneaky Bean! :-D

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205; +2 246

Poor kitteh no fuds? :o I hope the appointment goes well - at least you didn't have to fast from last night for an appointment at noon. Poor Leo did a couple weeks ago and he chewed on my ankles for hours for making him suffer so. So good to hear that she's feeling better today - I hope the visit doesn't stress her out too much.

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205; +2 246

Hi Ann & Maggie,

We are sending good vetty vines for Maggie's "procedures" this morning and thinking positively that all will be well. Rusty will be over later with KTSS to help get the vetty smell off.

Thinking of you both and sending many :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: s

Ella & Rusty

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205; +2 246

Thanks Lisa and Leo; it's strange when it's time for a Vetty visit, she starts feeling good, as if to say "why are going to that place"? She does get stressed but looks so calm.

Thanks Ella on the good Vetty vines. Maggie says yes please on removing the bad Vetty smell and KTSS visit.

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205; +2 246

Good vetty vines coming your way! Good luck with the IM and U/S today. I hope they are able to tell you something but at least you will have peace of mind. That is worth a lot as I am aware. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: Poor girl with no fuds. I always HATE that more than anything. It breaks my heart when they think we forgot them.

Have a great day!!!

This is good, as if she stays in this range, Mags won't be begging for food with the fast.

Thanks Melissa on the Vetty vines. Yes, the U/S will show so much more than the X-rays she's had and rule out or show if something else is going on. And yes on the peace of mind. It helps that my regular Vet thinks it's a good idea for a 2nd opinion and knows this IM Vet, too.

Nice turn around at +3, Maggie!!! So glad to hear she's feeling great today.

Many positive vetty vines coming your way. I've got a strong gut feeling for very positive results!!

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205; +2 246; +3 211

Good Morning Ann.
By now you're gone, but I'm sending good vetty vines for really good news from the u/s today.
Poor starving Maggie. Don't they break your heart, when they don't understand why you're not feeding?

Looking for good results from test.

Barb

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205; +2 246; +3 211 Update IM Visit & U

Thanks for all the good Vetty vines after I left, Michelle, Roni, Barb & Checkers, Amy and Dale. Poor Maggie is exhausted and sitting in the hallway trying to cover up her bare belly and talking away. There's a nice breeze coming thru the doorway. I didn't get a written copy yet, however, as most of you did! The IM Vet said it would get Faxed to my Vet by the end of the day, and they would also send me a copy. I guess he had appointments right after me. I'll try and remember everything he said. He was very nice and easy to talk with and listened to all my concerns. The good news is that there are no obstructions/tumors and no kidney infection, so that rules out those scary things. This is her renal disease and apparently values can change that rapidly in two months' time. It's just peace of mind having the knowledge and not wondering if it is another cause.

He recommends fluids every other day vs. the twice a week my Vet recommended and 100 ml vs. the 150 ml. I can handle that easily, as Mags is very good with fluids, and she definitely feels better afterwards. The other thing he is recommending that she go on a kidney diet, such as the Hills K/D Prescription Diet or the Rotal Canin, and I haven't checked, but I think we all know that isn't good for her diabetes. I have Dr. Lisa's wonderful foods list, as I'm now hesitant to feed Wellness.

He thinks her diabetes is managed well by me, and he had a hard time understanding why so many checks daily. I had the last page of her ss. Let's just say, I won't say what he was recommending there with her bg checks!! I was there mainly for the kidney, colon and organs ultrasound, but all three are tied in together. He thinks I'm managing the megacolon disease fine with the Cisapride, Lactulose and Miralax.

I had them check her b/p, and it was 160, which is okay and no meds needed. That was a relief as it seemed high a couple times at my regular Vet. There might be more info on the report, so I'll relay the rest tomorrow, but basically no obstruction, no cancer, tumors, etc. and the CRD can be managed. I bought Tanya's book, so it will make it easier to read as a book rather than sitting on the computer.
I'm sure there is more he told me, but once I get the report, I'll post what I forgot.
I should go back out to the store if I can get my second wind. Thanks everyone for all the good thoughts and vines.

Yay!!! That is great great news Ann and I know you are breathing a hugs sigh of relief.

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205; +2 246; +3 211 Update IM Visit & U

Yay! Good news - and lots of stress off the both of you. But poor Maggie has to deal with bare belly for a while - so cold without the furs

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205; +2 246; +3 211 Update IM Visit & U

Thanks Melissa, Lisa & Leo and Anne & Zener, and yes, huge sigh of relief and paws uncrossed. I'll see if I can get a pic of Mag's belly. She's just so tired thru the ordeal, so I'll wait til she's rested.

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205; +2 246; +3 211 Update IM Visit & U

I'm so glad you got good news about Maggie. Now you can focus on the issues you know she has and get her feeling better.

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205; +2 246; +3 211 Update IM Visit & U

Ann.....I'm so glad that Mags got a good report from the IM vet.
Isn't it nice to have your hard work with her FD, recognized by the doc? :-D

What a relief, to know she doesn't have any of the biggies, you were worried about. Now to find renal food she will eat.

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205; +2 246; +3 211 Update IM Visit & U

Ann, Glad things went well at the vet and good news about Maggie. I hope she will get used to her bare belly soon. Fluids in smalller amounts more frequently make sense, hope that helps Maggie feel better. Have a great evening!

PMPS 185
Not too bad a PMPS for all the stress she's gone thru today.

Thanks Carla and and Barb & Checkers. Yes, it is nice to have the diabetes recognized by another Vet. There was a young guy who brought his dog in for testing. He was shooting and not testing, and I didn't have enough time to talk with him before he was called in to see his Vet. I had just started telling him about Maggie's testing.

hooray for the good vetty visit!

There are more food options on the new lis since many of the newer food were so hard to get info on before. I'm making up a copy for Tess w/ everything that has less than 10% carbs and is under 200mg Phos /100 kcal. I'll send you a copy. it is a MUCH shorter list! And lots of fuds better than the Rx crud.

Wow, Mags! That is a daring new look! All the boys are staring! ;-) ;-) Don't let Vyktor catch them! You look great and all the vetty smell is gone, but that goo they used! -- Tess

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205 +2 246;+3 211; PMPS 185 IM Visit &

Thanks Devon on the Vetty list.
Ann & Tess, love the cart wheelies! So does Mags! Thanks Ann on sending the list. :YMHUG: I went a lot on what Tess was eating! I know on the prescription renal. Even the Vet said he knows a lot of cats won't eat it!
Tess, right now I'm getting my fluffy belly a nice sun tan, Just soaking up the sun so Vyktor can see me in my glory. Mags

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205 +2 246;+3 211; PMPS 185 IM Visit &

So glad there aren't any new issues and getting a good report.
Sounds like you have your excuse handed to you on a platter, just say she won't eat it ( after all she has to eat for her shots) and
they won't bug you about wanting her to change to that diet.

Looking forward to belly picture :-D

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205 +2 246;+3 211; PMPS 185 IM Visit &

Great news on the U/S. After reading Dr. Lisa's response to the Wellness question, I'm not sure what to do. Especially with kidney issues, I suspect it's a matter of feeding what low phos foods Maggie will eat.

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205 +2 246;+3 211; PMPS 185 IM Visit &

Great vetty report regarding the U/S! Extra scritches on Maggie's shaved belly tonight!

Re: 9/27 Maggie AMPS 205 +2 246;+3 211; PMPS 185 IM Visit &

Excellent vetty report! I'll be curious to know what fuds you decide on for Mags. Mario also eats Wellness Turkey for now, but obviously I'm changing that, and like Maggie, I need to keep phosporous in mind for him. I haven't had a chance to look at the new food charts yets.

Have a great evening, Ann!!

Re: 9/27 Maggie PMPS 185; +3 146 IM Visit & U/S

+3 146

A nice drop to a lower blue for Maggie. I think this dose agrees with Maggie. I gave her fluids earlier, so I wonder if this lowers her bg's. I had a time explaining the drops dose to the IM Vet and why I count drops. I told him it was a little over a half unit and that she was so sensitive to just a drop.

Hi Rhiannon, yes apparently the Vets are aware their Prescription diet foods are not agreeable to the kitties. :-D

Sienne, thanks on the U/S. On the Wellness, it is hard knowing what to do especially with the kitties liking the Wellness. There are some choices on Dr. Lisa's list with lower phosphorus than the Wellness that I'll experiment with Mags. I'll be shopping at Petsmart tomorrow for a few cans at first and then later ordering online when I find a good choice.

Tamara, scritches given to Maggie from you on her tummy! :YMHUG: She's all snuggled up in her pink blankey.

Thanks Amy, I'll let you know what Maggie decides. I was so relieved Maggie's b/p was okay. It said on the statement b/p doppler measurement. I'm not sure of the regular's Vet's b/p measurement. I may try some of the Merrick

Hi Ann - I am so relieved that Maggie did well at the vetty. I am glad too that she handles the fluids well too. What a relief. And I am so looking forward to a shaved belly pic! Good luck with teh food. I used Royal Canin modified LP for BJ, and it really made a difference for her in her renal values. I do believe that it is 8% carb though, so maybe that is too high for Maggie.

I hope your day has been a good one! sorry for this late post....

Congrats on the good vetty report! Maggies is so sweet to handle the fluid easily.
Ive found fluid do lower bg with Rosy. When Rosy was on HI in March, my vet asked me to give her fluid to lower the bg. I am not doing that anymore since Rosy is not CRF & is now on canned meal.
